Metal fab shops are a good idea - I will try those! There are places where I can buy whole sheets, but they charge a fortune when you're just buying one, and the charges for cutting it seemed to me to be a bit ridiculous. I kinda wanted to start with some small pieces just so I can play around, and ...

We had a good time on our trip, but now I think there are some things we would have changed. We ended up going to Epcot, which my daughter and I enjoyed (the rest were bored), Universal, which we all liked, and Magic Kingdom, which was pretty boring except for a few things. If we were to go again, I...

Need a quote - 1/4 sheet 16 ga. + 1/4 sheet 14 ga mild

Hey guys, I'm tossing around the idea of playing with some metal and would like to see if I could get an idea how much it might cost me and where I can get it. I'm looking for prices on a 1/4 sheet of 16 gauge mild steel, and a 1/4 sheet of 14 gauge mild. I would also need to get an estimate on ship...

Heya Steve,
I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I didn't get your message until we got back. I appreciate your offer! I wish we could have gotten together. If we go down there again, I will let you know and maybe we can arrange something.

Thanks!

I'm not sure where Lorain is, but as others have said, welcome to Ohio! Ohio is the land of lovely spring weather where it can be 80 degrees one day and snowing the next. I live in a suburb on the east side of Columbus. Some of the larger cities close to me are Gahanna, Reynoldsburg, Pickerington, e...

I use an Xacto knife with a new blade. I find they cut better for me than a utility knife. I usually make several careful passes over the cut, opening up the cut by bending it over a board. I have also found jigsaws and scroll saws to be difficult to use. They vibrate the leather really bad and it m...

Well, we can discuss the gorget if you like. I hate turning people down if they really want something. My queue is closed right now though and I'm not sure how long it will be before I re open it. I have a difficult project coming up, and I probably won't be taking orders until that is finished. Cat

Hey guys, I just wanted to let you all know I will be out of town from Monday the 9th until Friday the 13th. You know what, I didn't realize it was "Friday the 13th" until I just typed it. Hmmm.... Anyway, we are taking the laptop and hopefully the internet connection works at the hotel. I...

Randwulfson, I appreciate your offer very much! I went ahead and used leather, so I guess I won't be needing it now, although it sounds like fun and useful stuff. That martial arts mask looks just about perfect, minus the black padded head gear. I will look that up. Thanks! Irish, I agree completely. You deserve to get bashed if you pull your head away. However, I have to make this thing as safe as possible for them to allow it, and for me to be comfortable with her using it. I was afraid that PVC might shatter. Polycarbonate would be a good choice, but I don't know if I can get it locally. Ok, my daughter was injured at softball practice and ended up getting a few of her front teeth pushed in. If you're looking to make them, I got a kit from Halberd's and made some. This was my first completed steel project, and although they weren't "super" easy, I was able to complete them with next to no experience.

EDIT: The brass parts didn't come with the kit.
