Do you mean put 2 or 3 coats on per day for a 7 to 14 days? What about putting it on the flesh side? Wll that ever dry out, or will it soak up so much that it will stay greasy?

Thanks,

Thanks for the help guys! Hey, on that oil/beeswax mixture - is there a specific ratio, or is it just a "mix until it's the right consistency" kind of thing? And the Bick 4, where would I find that? Thanks again! Cat PS. If I just use the oil and I use it on the flesh side, will that dry o...

Any way to make veg tan soft w/o using oil?

Is there any way to make veg tan more supple without using neatsfoot oil? The neatsfoot always seems to leave a greasy residue. I would like to make some drawstring pouches, and I want the leather to scruntch up nicley.

Thanks,

Ok, I have a side of 4 oz. leather that I've had for a while and I finally got around to making a pouch/purse...thing.... Ingvar, Thanks for the kind comments and for the explanation about gold leafing. I guess I thought they were referring to something else. As for a brass wire inlay, that might be a tad difficult to get the wire to stay in. I'm not sure how I would do that, but it would certainly look good. For this,...

I have a little update. I have been busy, so I have not had much of a chance to work on this, but I got the head part all dyed and finished with acrylic.

I have the "wing/feather thingies" almost done, and I will post a pic of those when I get them finished.

Need advice - Resizing a sallet pattern

Ok, I have been commissioned to make a leather sallet, and I think I am going to use the helmet bowl from this pattern: m How do I resize this to fit the customer's measurements?
