It's cold, maligned and I dunno about jobs, but consider Wisconsin. We've got lots of wilderness depending on where you go. Not two hundred feel from me right now is a few dozen acres of marshland (in a city!) and a few miles away is several miles of Ice Age Trail (where the glaciers ended during th...

I personally like #1, but I can't afford it. I'm starting Christmas in a really deep hole, I can't spend too much more, especially on myself. And you can't have my guns. Although I have an export model Chinese SKS (the ones that are actually made well) but I like that gun. And that's a rather funny...

Brian: You're welcome on both counts. It certainly pleases me to help you out, and I do expect to get more than my money's worth. Okay, he suggested the Alabaster Tombs by Arthur Gardener. He says it's hard to come by, but something to snap up. I havn't dug too deep, but the only thing I've seen is ...

I'm kind of confused. Are ventails and aventails distinct? Are you talking about 11th century armor (as T.Bob does) or all periods? What threw me was the "later period" applied to the mail draping from a nasal. Because if a ventail like you're talking about is the same as an aventail on an early 15t...

Mike, I apoligze for my tone if it was off-handed. I just got done reading a post on Sword Forum from a guy who is hoping that the ARS content will "filter down" to the non-members. That just irks my goat (and my goat was not happy to begin with this morning)... in order to succeed in an organizati...

15th Centruy (Agincourt / 100 Years War) Faulds
X-post from R&A So, I've been looking through effigies, and I'm fairly certain I know what I want to do and how to do it, except for the faulds I find on the breastplates. Does anyone have any pictures or suggestions? I don't find overly much that is helpful, aside from rather complete documentation...

Effigies? (hardcopy sources)
I did a brief look on Amazon, but I'd like any print sources (ideally collectsions of effigies) that people particularly like.
I'm currently interested in ~1415 (100 Years War) English, but everything is helpful.

I think their response was a bit evasive, but not insulting. What alloy? Was this carbon steel or stainless? I don't think it's a bad helm, actually. The eye slots are a bit ugly (and definately look welded) but the bacinet looks good for a cheap piece. Although, let me point out this is why I build...

Ah, excellent! I recently noticed both the price of The Knight and the Blast Furnace, the price of the Armoury of Castle Churburg (is that the title?) and the fact that someone stole the first volume of Armor of the Battle of Wisby from the Milwaukee library. I do, indeed, know you. That's one of th...

Yeesh. Yea, I can see that. Locheed looked like such a great company until they mentioned they didn't have anywhere around here . . . Yea, I'm about a half hour north of Milwaukee. Platteville sounds very familiar, but I can't put my finger on where it is. There's a UW school there, I think. Well, w...

That's his entire stock at reasonable prices. Or order through me.
Seriously, this guy is such a jerk. Leave negative feedback, Newbie! Leave "Deceptive, violates eBay TOS. Avoid!"

Most interesting. I'm certainly looking forward to the forthcoming details on a lot of that material. And I also wish I could afford the lifetime membership, but not right now. Can I assume this lookup service would be some kind of e-bookish thing with various sources archived? That would be very us...

I think I used the wrong word. Is a fauld one contigous piece across the bottom of the breastplate while tassets are two pieces? If so, I meant fauld when I said tasset, sorry. The first picture was what I could find even remotely similar to the harness I have pictures of. I'd post those, but they'r...

It'll be fun to see his "Local Authorities" enforce anything in Germany. You over there on a US Army base, or are you living there as a civilian? Personally, I hate people like that on so many levels. Had a seller on eBay (whom we've ordered about $1000 of stuff from, and his cousin sold us two arca...

Artur, I'm looking forward to reports of your armor when it comes out, and I respect you trying to be fair, but most armorers charge $20 an hour for their work so we can afford to eat. I guess what I'm saying is if you can deliver quality items, you can be a fairly well off man if you make $200 a mo...

Yea, I shoulda stopped when I started losing concentration. I was only I only minorly hurt myself after that point. I try to stop when joints hurt, but it usually ends up being my back. Armoring: How long is too long in one day?
I was getting ready for an event (which I didn't make it to) and I wanted to finish my harness (which I didn't) and I ended up working from eleven in the morning to three in the morning with an hour off, two lunch breaks, and one break because my back hurt. Today, my hands don't flex right, it hurts...
