Looking for Great Bascinet pictures (esp. Doges Palace )

Hello,

I've seen the picture of the great bascinet on Arador, but I'm looking for more pictures of great bascinets, especially that one.

I did a quick search on the board, and I didn't find more than one picture. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Mike

Brian, it's my firm belief Rick can build -anything- and he'd happily help people fix their tools. He had some nice ones there, too. But ultimately, while people are in the mood for used blacksmithing stuff, at least people who don't use them will snap up classic stuff like anvils and leave us with ...

One's kinda mediocre, but the other is great!

Honestly, the Great Bascinet goes down over the shoudlers almost like a frogmouth helm.

Ah! Archie! You were the one rasing the elbow cop, right? How'd that work for you? I skipped out a little after John showed up and Patrick started banging on that helm. If you need any help, ask. I'm a bit far to help in person, but I'm not too far ahead of you (timeline wise, anyway. I'm a hair old...

Okay, you'll need metal (Warren County, but what state?) You'll need something to cut the metal. You'll need something to make the edges safe. You'll need something to hit the metal with, and on. You'll need something to hold the armor to you. Okay, now, that's awfully general, so let me narrow this...

The bottom one is (from the left) John Gruber, Ingrid (face hidden, mind you. ) Kiyohara (Mike Arndt?) and Otto (whom I'm not sure is on the Archive. Is he otto?)

The rest are already explained or too hard to make out.

Honestly, you can't miss this. It's big, it's huge, and you can always say you were at the first one.

I finally managed to recover. It was a lot of fun. I didn't do as much as I'd have liked, but that was my fault (and me allowing the people with no shops to do stuff). I was impressed with the young armorers. Lots of talent there, just a bit of practice to go. Doug, did that woman ask you about the ...

I'm afraid this isn't what you were asking, but the other alternative was to place maille on the gambeson itself, but only where plate wasn't covering. Things like voiders which cover the arms and underarms would allow a clean pointing setup directly to the gambeson as well. OTOH, if you plan on fig...

Last time the ARS/MAG was at Centaur Forge a harness made by Robert MacPhearson was there (along with its owner, who I can never remember the name of, sorry). It was a glorious work of art, and Brian bought many gloves (ask him about it, he had fun) so we could actually touch it. It was spectacular....

I'm with Brian. I've seen it online, at conventions, events, etc. Even our brick and mortar store makes a lot more with a CC machine, and they charge at least comperable rates.

As he said, the price of doing business. It's less than sales tax.

I tend to think the conversation went like this: "Hey, stupid!!! Can't you count? We've got ONE sword, they have a HUNDRED!!! Now is a bad time to piss them off!!!" That's beautiful! That's the best explaination I've ever heard. Was it just the Pharases who arrested him, or was the Legion involved?...

I made mine. It's not very good (okay, it's pretty bad) but I can't justify spending $300 for one right now. You can make your own from an old moving blanket, cotton batting and cloth, or pre-quilted fabric. Each has advantages and disadvantages. I don't have it right now, but there is a full PDF ma...

Faulds don't move much, actually. I'd say the simplest mistake to make is to rivet them too high up. Overlap shouldn't mean much, since they'd fold on top of each other like a spaulder. (think a collapsable cup). I'd actually like to see it if you found something. I'm always up for being wrong but l...

Horses. They protected their crotch with horses. ;)

I don't know how foot troops would do so, but I guess that's what the maille and the quick dodge were for. It's an exceedingly hard place to armor both protectively and movement wise.

I had a question. Wasnt jesus the lamb of god, turn the other cheek guy? He said a lot of stuff, not to mention trashing the temple. I'm 35 minutes north of Milwaukee. I have a lot of 1050 spring steel if you ever want to try that. Reasonable rates. :)

I can see the force being distributed in a full leg harness, but even in a 3/4, I'd think the shin would take a beating without padding. I'm very interested in figuring out period padding. I'd like an authentic method for padding my legs, as I intend to fight in the harness, and that's a requirement...
