I think what upsets people is not the difference in how things are done but the attitude with which it is presented and the fact that some of these people go to other places and basically tell the locals that they cheat because they play a harder game (the we have more honor because we play lighter...

I think I would have to begin by pointing out that there are blows that are too hard by accident and blows that are too hard by intent. In this rough game, a situation can arise where a fighter can be hit excessively. This has happened to me on occassion. In one instance, I experienced tunnel vision...

What are the other options? I think we need: 1. A fight between Atlantia and the East 2. Midway between the two kingdoms 3. Within an easy day drive that doesn't take you through a major city. 4. Inexpensive 5. Good weather 6. Pre-available cottages Now, how do we get that? -Aaron Because of region...

Good Morrow Your Grace, Duke Alaric, The solution is to get the fighting peers out of the planning process. Literally a treaty between the Middle and East that the fighting Peers (Kings, Dukes, etc...) will stay completely out of the planning process and hand the reigns over to their seneschals. Th...

Re: Tournament of Chivalry
[quote="Lucan Dux"]Your Grace, I agree that we do not have enough Singles Tourney’s within our Realm. In an effort to change that, I and my Barony have hosted a series of Tournaments in the Barony of the Bridge the past couple of years. There are three Tournaments each Year, one for Chiv...

Ah, to have read the Marxist historians on this matter! While wealth (which is to say land and money--what we capitalists would call assets) was part of the story, a person's position within the society was far more important. Many a Marxist historian wanted to connect wealth with position in a sort...

Josh K Paint the shield. Other than that....nice first kit. The shoulders look kinda Legolas but nice first kit! Paint? Nope. Cover it in leather. As far as I can tell, with the exception of Gokstad, that's what was done. Mord. Cover it in leather and then paint it . Josh your face cover reminds me...

Re: Survey: How much would you pay for an academic book...
Textbooks are artificially inflated... don't get me started on that one. This is an edited anthology of essays by professional scholars considering different aspects of medieval and Renaissance martial arts in cultural context. I'm currently investigating publishers, but the problem is that many of...

And if I should ever win big bucks in the lottery or some such similiar thing, I will put Mac on retainer. Probably a nice trust-fund where he can live off the interest and do what he wants. And by do what he wants you mean makes lots of gorgeous suits of armour? No. I owe him way too much for that...
