Curiously enough, the Winchester Bible - (from Prestwich, Armies and Warfare in the Middle Ages) has this picture of Goliath. A reasonably knightly figure, I should think. Now this is an interesting comparsion. Certainly, the image here is martial, and could be reasonably knightly upon first glance...

I have found "Memoirs of the Crusades" with de Joinville's Chronicle of the Saint Lewis (Louis) in it. I suspect this is something of a translation, but the work is originally published in 1908 and reprinted by Every Man in 1955. Anyway, it's a long read, so I'll keep my peace.
