Hi Kel, They can get them from Purpleheart, who are *not* getting them from Brian. Cheers! Christian I'd rather they didn't get them at all. They are clumsy, hot and leave the wearers' hands black and blue from the cheap dye job in the cheap upholstery leather the things are made of. Oh, but they'r...

Has anyone shared this thread with the AEMMA or HEMA Alliance folks? I know it's on myArmoury and a few others but shouldn't they know? THe Schola Saint George folks I mean. Yeah, we know he's a weasel. What's that got to do with AEMMA? Unfortunately I have been unable to ween the newbs off of Pric...

How big are they? I am not looking to use these for SCA rattan combat. So having a bunch of padding is not necassary. Seriously, go to a dollar store and look at the wrist length oven mits. I'm not kidding. When you stick your hand in one and try to hold a weapon you won't be able to feel the grip....

I'm serious about passing on your evidence to the appropriate authorities. If you have evidence of fraud or serious plagiarism, it's your duty to do so. If you are wrong about the quality or veracity of your evidence, you put Mr. Price in a position where he can mount a definitive defense. As it st...

Utterly useless! Don't waste your time. We got a pair of the silly things. Think crappy dollar store oven mitt, cheap leather on one side, mail on the reverse. Both sides are lightly padded which makes the mail underpadded and the palm unnecessarily padded. Its like the manufacturers stepped next do...

Re: And my turn
Utter fantasy . Kes did the art and molds then you ripped her off. You told her if she didn't like it she could sue you. I would sooner believe a rabid baboon's press releases than your megalomaniacal ravings. Twerp! 3) The folks at the Revival booth have also made flying accusations to booth patro...

Whoa, whoa! Don't let me discourage you. Make the thing!!!! Its a fun project. Just don't use it every week in fight practice. Save it for show once in a while at important events. Do you think men at arms wore all their pretties all the time ? I learned a lot making mine all those years ago. Clearl...

Re: Splinted Arm harness done, please critique!
I havn't used them in combat yet so we'll see how fewer plates absorb hard hits. How long do you think it will take the plates to chafe through the covering on your gambeson? Maybe a few more rivets around the perimeter of the plates? The rivet heads will give you that period look seen in mid 14thC...

Re: Curved planked heater shield.
Does anyone know who makes them or how to make them? Yes, what's your budget? The woodworking techniques are very similar to coopering a simple barrel or wooden column. You can learn everything you need by looking through old woodworking books or an intensive search of woodworking magazines. The co...

2500 / 482 = $5.19/hr. Doesn't include materials or tools. I guess he shouldn't expect to get so much from the crowd here, eh? Most people don't expect practicing a new hobby to earn them a living wage. If he can sell this for that coin, more power to him. If not, he's not the first one to find out...

Its one long ad for Revival sports equipment with a few images from manuscripts dotted throughout. If you want an overview of what Price thinks is important to have to practice in his study groups or cross over from the SCA... its right on the mark. TOMAR is a very useful book. This - not so much. Re: calling foul.
Aside from the different levels of income and standards of living I can tell you the Ukrainian and Russian teams work very hard to subsidize their sport with corporate sponsorship. It stuns me that that the SCA does not have Under Armour as a corporate sponsor. Or Gatorade or Red Bull or CocaCola

Those pollaxes are beautiful. Could we see images closer up? How are they created? Its a licensed knock-off of the Valentine pollaxe which is no longer available. There was a thread about it here a month or two ago. I designed another shape more in keeping with 14thC ones, which might be available ...

Excellent video. Much better than the other one you had posted. I really liked the accurate description of the dagger. I have carried one for years when fighting polearm, at first (and still) to the disdain by some SCA fighters, and yet starting a trend in the kingdom here from people sick of dying...

@ Duke Avery Glad you liked it! Its all in good fun. Sorry we don't have any chapters outside Ontario, Canada. Oh, I think both of them are wearing leather soled turn shoes; Matt made his own. A demo with the new AEMMA rubber pollaxes
Last weekend we had the annual open house at our facility to show off what all the groups do. We always do an armoured bout as part of our demo. This year the new pollaxes got a workout. Matt Brundle - maker of these lovely toys - is one of the players.
Enjoy.

sigh. Thing is, V is critical in this case. It's not just F, but how F is delivered. And, on further thought, returning to Kel's example of the cold chisel, it's a poor example on another count, precisely because the material is firmly supported. With the cold chisel example, you're doing a really ...

Thing about it is, this is entirely the wrong analogy. The issue here is not cutting steel, but defeating armour. The two exercises are quite different. Okay Gavin, I'll play. I am beginning to think we're talking past each other but maybe there is a concept/ reality disconnect involved. Answer thi...

And therein lies my problem with the WMA groups I have seen... Love taps that would tickle coupled with oversize egos. Ya'll might be a little more historical in your methods but you only do single combat without armour. So, yeah, ya'll got duels covered. But fighting? I don't think so. Count Johna...
