Mr. Hick- If a man's leg harness were of reliable quality, would a man with a shield even bother blocking a leg blow? -V Conversely, why throw a leg blow at a man with good leg harness when it is likely to open your head or arm to the opponent's counter... It works both ways. If one is close enough...

Have you looked at medievaldesign.com? Yes they are one of the Italian vendors I have looked at in the past. And now their site is down. Thanks anyway. WTB Farsetto - early 15thC doublet
It seems there is a big gap in available Italian men's garments between the late 14thC and mid 15thC. The farsetto of Malatesta Pandolfino (c1437) falls into that range but no one seems to make a version of it in North America. A couple Italian vendors make them, as well as a couple Polish vendors. ...

Cian / Kel , Is there a trick to the pattern? Is it a donut, or a cone? Is there a trick to figuring to the radius/diameter, or just wing it? 1 - A coved cone, two triangular gussets. 2 - Measure the aventail at various points along the circumference, wing it from there. You could lay the aventail ...

A very thinly quilted liner isn't hot and serves to increase resistance to thrusts. My first liner was light canvas with two layers of wool baby quilt lining in the front, one the rest of the way around. Its pretty thick and doesn't lie down properly. The others I've made have been duck cotton with ...

ARMA is a specific organization, whereas WMA, HEMA, etc. is a descriptor (i.e. Western Martial Arts, Historical European Martial Arts). Basically its two different sects of the same religion. And the SCA is just another LARP. Its one thing to have an opinion. Its another to have an informed opinion.

As far as the Wisby finds, there were no blows that penetrated the coats of plates. All the wounds were to heads and limbs, not all of which were covered by mail. Trevor, Durometer ratings relate to compression resistance. Many closed cell foam products used in the North American orthopedic field fall in at 35 - 40 D. EVA used for midsole build-up is typically in this range. Light EVA (Cloud EVA is one brand name) for cushion effect tends to be 25-30 D. There...

I've got a full-cow in the house just waiting for the right project, actually. The stretching process is BRUTAL if you're working by yourself, rather than having four or six hands on the job.
