Also, if you use canvas the same colour as the field of your arms, it doesn't need painting so you don't get your arms scuffed up as badly. The rest of your arms painted on will stick better too. Excellant idea. Even if you used white canvas and Rit dye (the same colour as the field) before paintin...

In the SCA cuts to the head are fatal. I can hear when the blade strikes and call it as good. I then let my partner tell me if it was not a valid blow (flat or not enough of a draw.) Ah. 1. What got you into armoring? Siege Engines. If I want to become a Siege Marshal, I need a Heavy auth. For that I need armour. Soon, the interest in armour overtook the interest in Siege. Crossed Legs - several questions

So, what's the story on the crossed legs on effigies? While not a proper blackening procedure, you can get a really cool effect by heat blackening a dished piece (before or after planishing) and jumping straight to #600 grit sandpaper, #1000 grit, and then buffing compound on a wheel. It comes out with this random-looking polygonal pattern of spots of ...

If sandwiching two 1/4" layers together, would it make much difference to add a third layer of, say, a 3" wide frame or border around on the back?
