In my SCA experience with finger gauntlets if you get hit in the hands it hurts like crazy but you probably aren't going to get your finger broken. YMMV depending on the type and amount of padding.

Personally I decided I didn't like them and will stick with mittens.

You know, if you read society rules, no-where does it state that the helmet has to protect the back of your head. It should, but the rules don't say that. In fact they don't even say the helmet has to be worn on the head, they do say the bottom bar of the grill, must be one inch below the chin, but...

It looks much better, personally I'd feel more comfy with another vertical slat in the gap between each of the existing ones for extra rigidity.

We can do most whatever you want. Brass/ bronze is expensive for plaques as we lost wax cast and it is very labour intensive though we are looking at some other options. I purchased an onion topped bascinet off of you a few years ago. It has a removable visor. The hinge on this helmet has suffered pretty badly. I got lucky and managed to get something out of their armour flake. The product was exactly what I ordered and was well made. I generally train at least once a week, I would prefer 2 or 3 but its hard trying to find someone to train with here.

I usually try and do pell work twice a week as well, weather permitting.
