I thought that, but if I make you a coat, will you wear it?? You're always complaining about being too hot. If you'll wear a coat
I'll be happy to make you one. Then you can wear a belt and it will look fine.

Well, Thomas worked his butt off for Jeff and the guys picking up the slack for me, so I think it's unlikely that he'll be slapped at all. However, I do agree that the belt is unsightly. I think he's probably wearing a belt because he need to wear a pouch. He needs a pouch on the field because he ne...

Well, the day is over in England. In the end, Jeff didn't win, but he didn't really lose, either. For the final, the scores from the prelims are taken away, and everyone is given points based on their standings. Steve Charlton in the #1 spot got 5 point. Jeff, in #2 spot, got 4 points Toby in #3 spo...

The burgundy has a fulled, brushed coat finish, so you don't see the weave at all. The black is actually slightly lighter weight than the burgundy, and is a twill with a slightly brushed finish. Very nice. I'm not doing photos and swatches at the $7 price. If I have to put it up on the website I wil...

I have cut everyone's wool, and still have about 15 yards of black and 15 yards of burgundy that I'm willing to part with. Reeling it off made me remember how nice it was, and why I bought so much of it. If you're thinking about buying some, do it now because if I have any left it's going on the sit...

As long as we are at this facility, the events will probably be in late April and late October/early November. If we get a big fat sponsor that wants to move us to the Del Mar Horse Park then who knows when or how often we'll have events. Red Bull has been sniffing around (ohpleaseohpleaseohplease) ...

OK, I thought it was just me. When I saw that I literally fell out of my chair laughing. I figured that was just an American euphemism and didn't mean the same thing in Australia. Guess it does. Dean told me American girls were shocking. Here we have an Australian girl offering to polish Luke's helm...

Hey all- Before we left for Pennsic, I put out a call for a web designer. I decided to go with Stephen Miller (AKA Wulf), who put this site together for us- WorldJoust.com We still have a couple of finishing touches to work on, but I couldn't wait to tell everyone how absolutely fantastic Stephen ha...

Wool for sale
I have some gorgeous black and burgundy wool for sale. I had to buy the whole roll to get the price, so I took a chance I could sell the extra off. This is first quality wool, 60" wide. Light/medium coat weight. It will be great for coats, hoods and hats. I think it is a bit heavy for cotehardi...

No, sorry Lee, they couldn't get it to work. I'm not technical, so I couldn't tell you what the problem was. We'd love to be able to use it, so maybe the best thing would be to call Jeff after he gets back next week to discuss it? Oh, and here's a clip Luke did for a kid's TV program while he was in...

As I understand it, this event involved literally hundreds of people, so it's inevitable that some gaffe is going to slip through somewhere. At least it wasn't worse, like someone showing up in his pants or something. They did 2 shows a day for 11 days. Toby ran an astonishing 110 courses over the p...

It RECREATES a ‘pas d’armes’, a contest of the KIND that was held to mark Charles the Bold of Burgundy’s marriage with Margaret of York in Bruges in 1468. RECREATES the KIND OF EVENT, not a reenactment of the actual event. Noone ever said it was a reenactment of the Tournament of the Golden...

You misunderstand. I wasn't responding to a perceived personal attack, I was responding to your personal opinion offered as a fact, and sideways logic. You discount Toby's armour as a recreation of anything that could have existed. Yet, when offered a painting of the exact object, you say 'yeah, but...

Sorry you didn't 'get' Luke's getup Bob. If you'll actually look at what Luke is wearing, he has his normal 15thC harness. He's not 'parading around in an 'Imperial-Gallic helmet', his armet (which is Jeff's by the way, Luke borrowed it for this trip) has been tricked out with a Greek crest to keep ...

Bern Joust, 2008
I'm kinda surprised that noone has posted images from the Bern event (or maybe someone did and I just missed it). The tournament was held for the Historiches Museum in Bern Switzerland. It recreates a ‘pas d’armes’, a contest of the kind that was held to mark Charles the Bold of Burgundy’s m...
