Prize for the Tournament of the Phoenix
I thought some folks might be interested in seeing the prizes which were awarded for this year's Tournament of the Phoenix. My idea was to make the prize for the Tournament[s] of the Phoenix a historically styled Phoenix pendant. The same pendant would be awarded each year, but the piece would have ...

Prize for the Tournament of the Phoenix (review)
My idea was to make the prize for the Tournament[s] of the Phoenix a historically styled Phoenix pendant. The same pendant would be awarded each year, but the piece would have a jewel near the Phoenix’s ‘heart’, and we would use a different stone each year. This would create an easily recogniz...

Haha, that's brilliant! I'm working on organizing things better for next year, so all the cool things I had planned actually happen. What looked good and doable on paper didn't work so well in practice this year, but now I know what it takes I can adjust things. Your wading in there was a fantastic ...

I really need to post some sort of proper thanks to everyone who participated in this event and made it the unqualified success it was. I want to wait a couple more days until I'm a bit less shell-shocked though, so for the moment will simply post a couple of photos from the event. Toby and Graham l...

Costume help in the Barony of Cynnabar
Hi folks- I have a customer who is new to the SCA and waited until too late to order clothes for the upcoming Grand Tournament in Cynnabar. I'm hoping to find a member of the HE/BSD 'family' in her area who can loan her an outfit for this event, while her own clothes are being made up. She's an athl...

I knew everyone was out for blood at this event, and after Toby and Luke's spectacular double unhorsing, I admit I was a bit shell shocked and jumpy. I didn't catch the beginning of this- I just heard some people saying -'look, that guy just got knocked out!', saw Leo running off with Jeff around hi...

He was hung up, totally off balance and could not right himself. If you notice, his baston club is still ...

I just tried to order these from the Gamousa site, but there seems to be some sort of problem and the order won't go thru. Plinking target $14.95 Spinner target deluxe $24.95 If you'd be kind enough to see if you can find these somewhere, I'd really appreciate the help. I'm almost out of time and st...

OK, OK, I know this isn't 'period', but my google foo is failing me and I figure one of you guys out there would know a good place to find these. No retching at all, glad to hear you're busy getting ready!! We are too- I feel like we're in 'controlled chaos' mode at the moment, with a pretty calm surface hiding all the mad paddling going on under the surface. At the same time, things are coming together fantastically, and everyone involved is...

Only the period equipment is mandatory for the archery competition- period clothing is suggested, but not mandatory. Dan wanted it to be mandatory, but since this event is open to the public (as opposed to being at an SCA event or RenFaire where people would be in costume already) I wanted as many p...

Luke's put together a short video of some of the Foot Combat from last year's Tournament of the Phoenix. We're gearing up for this year's event, which happens in just over 2 weeks!
Enjoy!

I think this is what Trystyn is referring to: 'Ones that treat jousting more like what it is. A sport.' I'd also be interested in hearing you elaborate on this. Seems to me that jousting is like everything else- what you make it. I think the guys who were interviewed see it as a sport, and take them...

REVIEW- Edward of Effingham
Wrote to Edward requesting some haeraldic art I needed for our upcoming Tournament of the Phoenix. I've worked with Edward before and as always, the project was handled quickly and professionally with absolutely no muss or fuss (a real bonus for a very harried event producer!!) 5 of 5 all across the...
