Is your side button cloak separate from the hood in the first picture? I've been trying to figure out how to include a lire pipe hood on a side button cloak and it doesn't want to work for me, so any insights would be helpful!
Thanks,

Re: Onion Top
That said, I think this helmet is safe enough for armored combat. Guessing here, but based on the picture and his description of needing the holes filled in, I think that was Duke Felix's old onion top. If so, yeah, plenty safe. His Grace, before he was so graceful, wore it all the time including a...

I have a Revival round pavilion and do not like it and would not recommend it. It is a beautiful, medievally shaped tent for a good price. That is where my compliments end. The walls are permanently attached to the roof making it very hard to air out, or dry out, and impossible to get a cross breeze...

Thanks Mac!
The thought of doing a COP type back defense with a globose breast had occurred to me, but I've been putting it off. Maybe this will motivate me to actually give it a try.

Re: 14th cent. back straps: or things that make you go hmm.
From previous discussions on the AA, I was of the impression that through most of the period the exemplar manuscripts shown above depict, there was no substantial back defense in use. If that is the case, what do these straps attach to under the arming cote?

When I had this problem I found the safest, most expedient solution to be selling the breastplate and using the proceeds to purchase a new one that actually fit.

Has anyone tried bar-top? Yes. I have not personally, but there are two semi-local fighters who have painted extraordinarily beautiful shields and then coated them with bar top epoxy.
