Re: Has anyone here made linenfold panels?
[This was done by a friend's father (and made it into Fine Woodworking) with chisels. (note the end panels). http://www.finewoodworking.com/uploadedimages/fine_woodworking_network/image_resources/cms/img301-img600/IMG474_xl.jpg Are the front carved pieces done in one piece or is the carved bit over...

(I'll take that comment about the thumb size on board. Jeff already told me I need to offer them in a Large size as well as the One Size) Glad to be of service! Expanding on the comment: I actually have fairly small hands and the rest fits fine - it's just the thumb. Not uncomfortably tight, but ti...

I got my gloves in the mail today - they are great! The thumb is a little tight, and the over all shape and function will take some getting used to, but definitely worth the buy! One step closer to completing my huntsman impression! (As an added bonus they make me feel like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Tu...

Going Native in the 14th Century
Hi All- We know that the 14th century saw men at arms travelling great distances to prove themselves in deeds and make coin in foreign wars; English and French travelled to Italy and Spain, Germans travelled into the east to partake in the crusades, and there are even reports of North African wars b...

Re: Because I'm a contrary bastard
I'm especially looking forward to a back point bascinet with full aventail. The dog face will come a bit later. Welcome to the family Your Grace. Since it sounds like you are working to make this kit something special, allow me to point out that a mid-14th century gentleman would most likely have a...

I don't know if I can make it, but will see what I can do. I notice on the site that there is a concern for the safety of the gym floor - Cynnabar has a foam floor that we use for indoor fighting events where the floor might be damaged or damage armor. If someone from Iron Oak could come pick it up,...

(i am thinking of the 10-15man unbelted team tourney right? the one where each kingdom brings a team) Yes, you are thinking of the 10-15 man unbelted team tourney. That's not what is seen in the video. The video is of the East versus Mid unbelted Champions BATTLE. Normally it is run as a 45 on 45 c...

this was a tournament Respectfully, the belted and unbelted champions battles are not run as tournaments - they are small unit melees. The unbleted battles at Pennsic 39 were 15 on 15 and covered an area that was maybe 1/4 the size of the Pennsic battlefield. If the champions battles were run with ...

Recognition of a threat may constitute engagement, but a twitch in body language does not provide a sufficient degree of recognition to permit striking someone full from behind. I agree completely Your Grace. Not being able to see the Eastern unbelt's face/eyes/etc. I am only guessing as to what wa...

The Pennsic champions battles are a little different than your average combat... That being said: At about 49.5 secs there is a twitch in the body language of the eastern unbelt that looks to me like recognition of a threat. Recognition of a threat equals engagement. Also, it looks to me that the fi...

Leo's new crest was for the Lion versus Christians tournament at a local event. He acquitted himeslf quite well in slaying the helpless victims of our baron's bloodlust! Note also - the slim white line coming out of his back - that's a leash preventing him from slaughtering the innocents too quickly!

I think they're counting halberd as a two-handed cutting polearm. The way I read it it, it's legal up to 12 feet. Christopher Dear Lord. Where did you get that? I believe that this is another example of the new rules being written in a completely ambiguous manner... C. Two-Handed Weapons. 7. Total ...

I would imagine that the $110 wonders are not raised at all - they are most likely welded construction from multiple pieces.

...I really don't like the indestructable shield. I think it takes away some of the dangers that would have been faced against heavier weapons like axes and polearms. The weight and mechanics of axes and polearms in the SCA are about as realistic as the nature of our shields, the knee fighting and ...
