At the last maille making demo I did I used PVC rings, as previously suggested, for my how-to piece. To make it easier to explain the rows, I spray painted half of them red - it helps to make the pattern jump out. The girl scouts were using low gauge bailing rie rings that I wound and cut myself and...

What are you using as the etchant chemical? I'm etching brass using a nearly saturate solution of copper nitrate in DI water as my electrolyte. I agree with AwP though that the solution consituents shouldn't be too important as long as you have some sort of salt in the solution - may not be optimal...

I've been doing some electroetching lately. My first few attempts haven't been good enough to show on the board here, but I think I will get there pretty quickly.

I looked through your links and didn't see what they suggested for use as a resist. Any ideas of what they are using?

When I started making maille, before I was old enough to have a paying job, I used second hand coat hangers from the local laundry mat. They are coated in a thin layer of some polymeric/paint/stuff. It sticks pretty well to the wire when all you are doing is hanging a shirt on it, but once the wire ...

I saw some photos, but I don't remember where. Somewhere on Facebook I believe.

I apologize for any confusion with the scheduling. It was in the books for 1pm on Monday, but Their Excellencies expressed a very valid concern that the war points might still be under contest at that time, so moved it to a 3pm start.

Hopefully next year things will be smoother for all involved.

No rivets needed: Two holes on each side of your head where you would normally mount the rivets. Loop a LONG piece of paracord through one set of holes (if you are right handed I would suggest the left hand set of hols) so that both ends of the string are now inside the helmet.
