ahhh .. I think i know who you speak of .. see them at The MD ren fair quite a bit .. i do have a kilt that i wear but its for other reasons not just to look cool .. Was just checking on what you ment so nothing got out of hand :)

Yea i would have to say majority of the Tichux armour is pretty freakin cool .. i have seen some SCA fighters with some nasty looking stuff (blue plastic barrles )

I would have to say I pretty much only use brass rivetts an i know I have enver had any problems with them unless i did not peen them over correctly .. Most of the full contact jousters I know have brass rivets on thier armor as well .. I havent seen one of them ever sheer ..

H,mmm if i am on my horse (which I do own) lance follwed with a hammer I am a polearm an great weapon kinda guy which some of the generic mercs know But in another org i am in my peasents flail is my best friend for all you sheildmen but they are all good just depends on who is behind the form .

Helm Question

OK just out of curiosty .. Why do some of you an I have noticed other armorers who use 13g an 12g stainless helmet tops an even mild ones in 12 an higher gauges .. I have never needed to go above 14g stainless an that is for jousting helms as well .. preference ? availabilility of material ? etc etc

I have quite of experience with stainless an its a hard material to begin with you will go through some blades .. even beverly shears get dull quick .. hell do not know how many drill bits an I have killd working with it .. but best of luck :)

depending on the type of stainless you are useing you can actually get it to turn blue an not just the yellow color its what temp you heat it at ..

It does take some skill to pull it off ..I know you may not agree with this but from my point of veiw as a great weapon fighter thrusting is one of my weapons agaist a fighter with a sheild or polr arm or whatever he might have .. As for the touch rule it was something i had to get use to because of...

I have been wearing a kevlar vest for the past 8 yrs since i have been fighting as my padding .. an i love it but its hot in the summer :) but I still wear it an even bought a new one to replace my old one .. absorbs stick shots well :)

hello all , work as a full time heat treeater here an make armour on the side .. the only real drawback that i am aware of is that the heat treated stainless doesnt tear like normal stainless but will just eventually break due to the hardness .. but it will take some time and quite a bit of abuse .....
