I was wondering about a layered approach with umhw or something similar at the core and the crepe material Captain Jamie uses on teh outside. The UMHW would provide mass and the foamed crepe/sole material some resiliency and maybe reduce the tendency for the umhw rod to dump all of its inertia into ...

You may also be executing your returns improperly. Pay attention to whether or not you are letting the point of your sword whip out on your returns, which is particularly easy to let happen if you use a trigger. Be sure that when returning the sword from a blow your grip is solid and firm with the b...

It's hard to say without seeing it in person but it looks to me like the ventral plate and the two lung plates are lightly overdished in comparison to the original. Your overall shape appears to be 'fuller' and as others have mentioned the bottom lookes uneven. On the whole it looks pretty stellar, ...

Mine is strapped in a method very similar to what Cailean perscribes. The low end of my fore arm strap is mounted below the intersection of the two 45 degree lines scribed from the corners. This intersection tends to be pretty close to the center of gravity of the shield. The goal is to get the cg t...

Those are the ones. They arent perfect, but if the piece is going to be a combat harness, you probably dont want to spend hundreds of dollars to have exact duplicates of the original carved and cast. I think they give a good impression, I got the idea originally from looking at photographs of Philli...
