We camp with them. We are wanting to move in there (this was our first year there and we are old freinds with the builders) and share the space and save the castle gatehouse. That puts you next door to the Barony of Stonemarche and hence frequently the Priory. Hmm. I see a plan unfurling in my head...

As Duncan Forbes put it so well, I was made redundant.
Looks like a splendid time was had by all.

Oh to play in a real castle.

On the plus side, it does give me that much more time to get my kit into Raglan Fair worth shape.

Mine is similar to gregoir's except that there are two holes just below the band at the temple and two holes at the back of the helmet on a level with the first two holes. The paracord is knotted in a figure 8 knot at the temple hole and feeds down to a leather chin strap shaped like an oval with a ...

One sca KO I observed was wearing only a maille coif and thinly padded arming cap under his helm. With respect, I am skeptical that this sort of arrangement is really very safe. I used to do this all the time. Basically, I just started wearing a coif under the helm that I had already been wearing w...

It depends some on the style of helmet. Mine sits very close to my face so I have reasonable vision in the lateral plane. My peripheral is close to what I have experienced in open face helms. What I lack is a view of my opponent below their chest (generally) at a normal engagement range. This is whe...

Mine is diagonal. On the top it is mounted to the same bolt that holds the upper part of my grip, the lower end is bolted on to the upper part of the lower enarme. One end is short, maybe six inches, with a buckle attached. The other end is about three feet long. In use during a fight I usually grip...
