I have an arc welder, with which I can make brutally ugly welds that require a huge amount of cleanup. I could probably get some time on my uncles mig down the road if you want to tack the hinge plate to the grill the way I did mine. If you wait until summer I hope to get on of these rigs and the ta...

Welder recomendations?

A while back there was a discussion about gas welders, someone mentioned a particluar gas welder whose tip/mixer looked like a pistol. The company advertised that one could weld from ridiculously thing up to pretty thick with this one particular unit. I seem to recall the guy who mentioned the tool ...

Sarnac if you are interested I have a pot helm I could sell to you. It is my loaner helm and no great looker - but appropriate tothe 13th century. It is BIG however, I think a 24 or a 24.5" melon would probably fit.

Thanks James. I was just trying some of the elements out yesterday. I have a new cote from Marla that fits much better under the hauberk than the arming coat I am wearing there. She was putting the finishing touches on it so I wore the 14th century cote. The belt is my old squires belt and is really...

Painted Kettle Hat.

Thought I'd post here, one of Adams creations in action, a painted kettle hat. Adam loaned me this to try with my evolving harness. It is simply put Da Bomb. I have a pot helm currently on the rails, but after fighting in the kettle I am not sure I am going to like it.

I think that is pretty close. Although I believe the short sleeved super tunic is a bit more of an early 12th century fashion, 1140 is a date that jumps into my head. I think by the third crusade the fashion was for a long relatively fitted sleeve on the tunic. It is a very simple look. I dont have ...

The Macie-unpronounski-bible does contain a couple of panels where the collar of a quilted garment can be seen under the mail. This would be contemporaneous with the baltic crusades. Earlier than this I have seen nothing that is clearly one thing or another only hints.

D. Pteruges can work, if thick enough - averrils are in the neighborhood of 11 oz leather and Damons are similar I believe. The pine cone effect can be reduce by weighting the ends down with something. You are really good at putting decorative geegaws on your harness - just think of it as enlarging ...

Stephen of Silverforge fights with one, when he isn't channeling a sword and buckler gawd. His is mounted such that he is punching out with the broadest part of the arc. So it fights a lot like a strapped round shield. I dont think his is mush more than 22" from point to point. You would have to ask...
