Aaron,

That's utterly brilliant. Glad to see the laminated method is working out so well. I'm guessing the scabbard is actually quite light-weight?

Fighters always seek the competitive edge. To not do so is to not be a fighter. Some things people do may be perceived as immoral but still a fighter always seeks ways to win. I can't quite agree. I can see (and know of some) rather good and competitive fights who would not use sword and madu or tw...

Cool. You could do it with a Reconquista or "Road to Campostella" fiction behind it. (In fact the Coronado expedition of 1540 started in Campostella... Mexico, outside of present Guadalajara. So Nuevo Mexico IS "on the road to Campostella", as it were. ) Cheers! Gordon Nah.... o...

I'm curious what some hot fighters... particularly the more historically minded ones think of weapons forms that are clearly non-historical. Say, such as sword and madu, or two sword. I know two-sword is popular in the SCA, but it IS an SCA-ism. P.S. - I know fighting in the SCA is non-historical i...

There is probably information on a few badges of the period, but I am pretty sure there is no information on town colors of the period prior to the early 1500's in England, and even then there are only a couple that are represented. -Cian I think there is some clear evidence that some archers from ...

I think option A is nicer and perhaps more correct.

Don't use the actual Kingdom arms unless you're the Sovreign. In England, even royal banners often included the cross of St. George in the hoist, rather than than the royal arms.

My crappy old hose are falling apart and I need to make some new ones. Anyone have any good sources for wool for making hosen?

I have considered buying some ready made ones, but I'm a fat-ass, and need them made to fit. Besides, I like sewing. Really.

To be honest, anything you say or do to pull off wearing a kilt with your reiver armour isn't going to be very convincing. It'll sound too much like the proverbial "Scotsman kidnapped by Gypsies, and trained by ninjas" stereotype. So, my advice would be to: a) give up the kilt. Perhaps wea...
