he's glenk's FAVORITE author hhehehe I haven't responded, because if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Actually Glen... I'm not looking for just nice things. If he's a screwball, I would sure like to know. In the book on Poitiers, he makes several references to the fact that t...

Most of it is, IMHO, less grossly offensive than most fantasy junk. If not optimal, it seems at least reasonable.

The girl on the left is wearing something that looks quite similar to a 16th-century 3/4 armour.

I own a couple Albion pieces. In my view, they are the finest production swords on the market. The only other production manufacturer who can compete, in my view, is Arms and Armour. Now I am talking about historical reproductions here, since that appears to be what you're interested in. I haven't h...

Here's another, two for the price of one! Nick, the man on the right is the same as the one I posted (I also had this image). Do you happen to know how they are? I'd like to label the photographs in my collection. Thanks! -Gerhard- I believe they are interpreters from "The Medival Center" in Denmar...

I don't know why people are labouring under the misaprehension that a brigandine is a "light" armour. Do you mean it is not light weight, that is, in fact, very effective armour, or both? It would seem to be remarkably effective just looking at it. But having never worn one, I don't know if it's li...

You're not a "real" 15th century man-at-arms. Is it in "poor taste" to wear the armour of one and portray one in the context of the SCA? It's ACTING my dear boy. Yes, but there aren't any real 15th century men-at-arms around to be offended by my egregiously inaccurate portrayal. There are, QED, rea...

Yeah, I told him "Hey, thats the Lyle bascinet" (The guy who's collection it was in after it was sold out of the Churburg and before it got to the RA) when I first saw pictures of it rough. The way the bowl and the visorare shaped and sit is very distinctive. There's something about the way the lin...

Honestly, John, I hadn't thought your post really was immature. I realize that there may be no legal reason re-enactors can be barred from doing this, but I still kinda regard it as being in somewhat poor taste. Josh, You're not a "real" 15th century man-at-arms. Of course, that also brings up the point that you're also forgetting the best accessories to a kit like that; a lance and a horse!!! Although I'd love to learn to ride and properly equip a horse, I simply don't have the time for it. A horse isn't like a piece of harness. It is a living being with n...

Are the "orders" in question, which "still exist" actually linear continuations of the groups? Or are the "modern" reconstitutions of a group lost to the misty days of history and "restarted" as it were? Thanks! Maeryk TBH, I don't think it matters. As long as folks aren't presenting themselves as ...

Awwwww.....c'mon! Everybody does the globose breastplate thing. Be different and do one of those spiffy later CoPs like you see in one of the editions of Dei Liberi; the kind that looks kinda like a rear-opening corazzina. I actually really like those. I may get one eventually. But me likes the shi...

Vitus, I have one of your shields (strapping it up now), but I also have a larger birch blank I got from GAA some time ago. Could I ship it you you and get the edges smoothed and the blank glassed up? How much would that cost? I've considered trying to do it myself, but it seems a major pain in the ...
