he's glenk's FAVORITE author hhehehe I haven't responded, because if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Actually Glen... I'm not looking for just nice things. If he's a screwball, I would sure like to know. In the book on Poitiers, he makes several references to the fact that t...

Not period of course, but I use a silicon-based spray rust inhibitor/lubticant on my mild steel mail. Dries without a mess, and works well.

I've seen that style of helmet since the 80's. It was an early attempt to extrapolate a viking occular helmet to something SCA legal. They were quite popular at one time.

Depeeka is making them now, so expect them to make a comeback :-/

Most of it is, IMHO, less grossly offensive than most fantasy junk. If not optimal, it seems at least reasonable.

I own a couple Albion pieces. In my view, they are the finest production swords on the market. The only other production manufacturer who can compete, in my view, is Arms and Armour. I don't know why people are labouring under the misaprehension that a brigandine is a "light" armour. Do you mean it is not light weight, that is, in fact, very effective armour, or both? It would seem to be remarkably effective just looking at it. But having never worn one, I don't know if it's li...

You're not a "real" 15th century man-at-arms. Is it in "poor taste" to wear the armour of one and portray one in the context of the SCA? It's ACTING my dear boy. Yes, but there aren't any real 15th century men-at-arms around to be offended by my egregiously inaccurate portrayal. There are, QED, rea...

Of course, that also brings up the point that you're also forgetting the best accessories to a kit like that; a lance and a horse!!! Although I'd love to learn to ride and properly equip a horse, I simply don't have the time for it. A horse isn't like a piece of harness. It is a living being with n...
