I have been struck repeatedly (dozens of times) with a full weight rebated (1.5mm edge) bastard sword on a 6 mm mild steel rivited chain shirt over a revival gambeson by a 300 pound cheesehead mook as hard as he could. Suzerain is making me a bespoke sword. I don't think he'll mind if I post a picture. This design is appropriate to the second hlf of the 14th century. I do have an Icefalcon purchased arming sword but I do not really trust it. No slight to Ice, he didn't make it, he was just thinking of selling them...
