Tuchuk charity tournement. Any of them but my favorite was at Pennsic 34
Please see:
http://www.pbase.com/darter02/p34_013
Tuchuk rules,i.e. grappling, intensity, no whining, and all for a good cause.
This is me getting slammed in the head by some Atlantian dude.

Worst tourney ever? The first crown tourney Gavin Kilkenny won. I am glad he won others later because that one stank on ice. (not his fault) The short version: One of the finalists (Andreas de Vulpas)got kicked out during the final fight. Calling it active marshalling would be an understatement. The...

I love the idea of thrusting without thrusting tips on single handed weapons. I think a thin piece of leather or some such on the tip to prevent laceration injury to bare flesh would still be polite, and if we go to no tip I expect I would do this. Smaller thrusting tips on polearms and spears will...

Cheesy how? The shield is strapped in his arm and hand. There is no rule against it and frankly is easier to defeat than a single hand sword and shield. When that sword goes down, so goes the shield, leaving the head exposed. In my opinion it doesn't pay to worry about what the other guy is doing pa...

Of the three peerages, Knight, Laurel, and Pelican. Knight is the only one with an actual historical association. (Take from that what you will) If you make pretty stuff, your reward is you have pretty stuff. You can give it to people and they will be happy, too. If you help out, thats nice, too. Y...

Re: Lanyards
Do you use them? Yes, because they are required. VII. WEAPONS STANDARDS A. General 2. Primary weapons used single-handed shall have a wrist strap (or equivalent restraint) which will keep the weapon from leaving the immediate area of the user. Restraints are not required on hafted weapons used sing...

They are not required on bastard swords. So I use two bastard swords. I hate lanyards. I do a lot of tricky crap like dropping one sword to get a two handed swing with the other one, or to pull a shiv and shank my noble foe in the face. Lanyards fuck up my A game. I dragged a guy though my own line ...

I like this one. Something about one man pushing back a line with his spear is just really cool! (doesnt hurt that he has an awesome kit ) Thanks for that picture. Where did it come from? I lived through that charge, thanks to my friend Michael, seen in the foreground with the polearm, who cleaned ...

I wear Gruber finger gauntlets to fancy dress up scraps, because I need my middle finger to be seperate. I wear a pair of Grettr gauntlets for everything else. I have worn my Grettr gauntlets for approxamately 1000 days of fighting, over a ten year period of time. I am a moron and frequently block o...
