actually they are longer than that. they come down mid calf if not longer. they are split too. I've seen many illustrations with this style breeches being worn where the wearer has the bottoms rolled and tied up above the knee

New Hospitaller kit i've been working on.

Here is the soft kit for my late 12th/ early 13th century hospitaller. I have just a few rivets to put into the shield and then everything should be done for the 1206 statute. If it isn't storming with ice tomorrow, I will put on the kit with armour etc and take a picture.

i have owned a starfire. they are known as the crowbar of the rebatted swords. after i got my paul binns i quickly learned the difference and sold my starfire for what i bought it for.

There are quite a few contemporary pics - if you know where to look. The Aberdeen Bestiary - English about 1200 - has two illustrations with them in - see the Bonnacon and the Tiger links. Then there is the Hortus Deliciarum produced in Alsace, on what is now the French-German border in the late 12...

looking for references/pictures of sizes and shapes for late 12th century European shields. i am making a hospitaller kit and need a shield. is it a kite or a larger heater etc?
