Wait a second..
I have a sander where the belt wanders back and forth a lot. Should i just rotate the arm so the wheel not connected to the motor is below the other wheel?

I have an old and a new and the old is better quality, higher precision fitted parts and all over a lot nicer. Get a used one if possible and buy some extra dies. You will loose or break some along the way.

Re: Dusting off the cobwebs
On this side of the pond we have dense gypsym boards used in construction for improved fire protection. They are usually called "protect" but I believe that is a brand name. It can be used by itself since it is very strong and dense, or you can just screw it to boards or plywood.

Mac, that page claims the date to be 1420. I would place it in the last half of the 15th century based on the armour style..

Pottery kiln suitable for armour?
So, I am about to invest in a kiln for hardening and tempering spring steel armour and I have found several used ones that are ment for pottery. Would something like that work for armour? What should I think of and make sure it has? Any help on the matter is appreciated.

This is the picture with most visible details. The rivet heads are very large and flat. Reminds me of modern leather rivets.

Re: Early 14th century gauntlets
It looks as there is a plate on the inside of the wrist underlapping the two outer plates. Would be interesting to see closeups from different angles. The outer plates have rivets probably going all the way around. These could perhaps be for articulating leathers? Problem with that is that they woul...

Help with early 16th century belts, bags and stuff.
I am working on improving my clothes, armour and well, everything. I am aiming for about 1510 - 1530 and wonder if there are any good sources for how belts, bags and general cool stuff that is not clothes or armour looked. I would love to see original pieces or detailed artwork I could make copies f...

Re: WTB: Game of Thrones inspired armour
The problem with this type of fantasy armour is that it is not designed to fit and work on a human body. One big problem is that the waist is way too low and will be both uncomfortable to wear and limit your mobility a lot. (Check out this thread as reference: http://forums.armourarchive.org/phpBB3/...

Re: Designing a knee, trying to get it right
I feel that I am missing a few things. The medial side view would be awesome to have so I can place the views on top of each other and that way see the difference of the two sides. I am also missing the slots. The way I understand Macs drawing is that it is pivoted without slots? If not, I assume th...

Re: Designing a knee, trying to get it right
Wow, fantastic Mac.
Would it be too much to ask you to do the medial side view as well? It would help with the perspective of the spacing of the rivets and how far back on the leg each side is supposed to go. If you have nothing better to do that is..

I believe the lames arent in the original position on the picture but perhaps more in their extended state? It looks like the rivet positions should be closer to eachother for optimal movement of the joint.
Dont trust my word for it though..

Getting back to what James said about the difference in spacing of the rivets of the inside vs outside of the leg.. Ehm, nevermind. Its my late night brain playing tricks on me. The knees being bent the way they are with the top lame still inside the cop got me confused. I withdraw my previous ramblings.

Very nice! This is something that should catch on, I am going to have to make something similar myself.
Only thing I can comment is that it perhaps should get some light hammering all over to add strength and make it look less machine flat.
