Shield Stats

Greetings! Does anybody have any solid measurements and shapes on historic heater shields? Like from period examples, or, say, taken from effigies... that sort of thing? What I'm really interested are heater shapes and sizes and the era it existed... Like, take for instance, the Black Prince heater....

practices I have never worried about. Have two shields-


Normally I do this... but we've moved practice to a park that gets us roughly 75+ spectators every week, so every practice is kinda like a demo... so I've been trying to look good at practice too.

Has anyone who has done this noticed a specific timeframe where it starts to splinter more than usual? My shield is pretty much dead (the shield which started this thread). It lasted 4 practices, and 3 tournies (with following pick-up fights at two). Overall about 2 months (April-May). I had to app...

Just to clear things up... It was this shield: http://home.armourarchive.org/members/broadway/blogpics/Toc.jpg It is a 22"X36" heater. It is constructed of 3 sheets of 1/4" oak plywood, glued together. Then the edges were rounded on a router, and sanded smoooth... then covered in two layers of heavy...
