Sold it. I discovered that I prefer wearing a bascinet. I routinely try different types of armours, just to see what its like to fight with them... After chatting and sparring with Duke Stephen of Beckenham last year at Gulf Wars, I thought I'd give the Sallet a try. After fighting in it a couple mo...

Action shot of my current rig (I think I'm sliding right for some dumbass reason), sans shield (I don't normally fight with that round shield). Legs are on their way out... they are gapping badly, dented so much there is significant metal fatigue... and I don't feel like fixing them up. Helm is also...

Greetings and welcome Gaston, Since I have not gone out of my way to become a marshal within the SCA, and set my sword asside to MIC an event, I cannot complain about how you choose to do it. Thank you for taking the time to ensure that we had a tourney last week. Asside from the rain, I enjoyed mys...

Alrighty... bought it this weekend... The problems I have had so far: My living room isn't big enough to stand far enough away from the tv to make it work without the trainer saying "step back from the TV" like every 30 seconds. You need at least 8 feet between you and the tv. I also don't have enou...

Thanks for the info Sir Tascius. I may actually gun blue and clear coat it now that you mention it. I hadn't thought of it before. The problem with the helm size is my head is 25 inches in circumference at the brow, and the helm is 26 1/2. I think it would fit a person with a 23" brow easily. I've u...

Helm Project 90% done
So, I recently bought one of the unfinished helms Matthias sold on the classified forum... It was a roughed out Sallet that he sold me for $50. His description: Bowl 1 was supposed to be a salet. Needs quite a bit of grind/sand/clean up on the outside, little shaping still etc. Good start. Still nee...

anyway, not wanting to derail this just thought your answer was a bit off. see you at ymir! My tounge was well into my cheek with that response, your Grace. I'd much rather be using a heater, and agree totally with your assessment of the situation. If my round sheild were only neccessary as a platt...

Sydney Anglo's "The Martial Arts of Renaissance Europe." is a great place to start. Its an awesome introduction into all that is swordfighting. It also helps that it is a very fun book to read, and the illustrations are great too. 100 stars out of 10. I'm reading it for the third time, off and on ov...

I tell this story better in person. This took place the night before an event a couple years ago. It was a local event to me, and I had offered to host Sir Dagonet and Count Valharic at my house that evening. We were all talking about various aspects of fighting, and drinking beer, and listening to ...

I cut the arms off of a hockey torso, and wear a lacrosse rib guard under that. I prefer the hockey gear with minimal foam, and a few plastic plates. The lacross gear has to be beefed up with heavy leather. I don't like the shoulders and arms, cause of the football player shoulder profile, so I cut ...

I guess I'll take a shot at this one... What were your initial goals? Other than a few half ass attempts at various moments over the last 14 years... I started seriously getting into heavy fighting in spring of 2004. At that point, something just went off in my head, and I realised that I really, re...

My arming pavilion... I was going to use it on the inside to give the cone at the top a bit more round shape. Currently, its just held out with ropes, and it looks kinda limp. I figured a ring on the inside would work... I intend on just hanging it froma four or so ropes off of the center pole. Expe...
