You're going to need to narrow it down a bit more than that. Of any century you could of chosen you picked the one with arguably the most dramatic changes to armour. To top it of you're going to need to give an area of interest as well. Byzantine or Norman? 1302 or 1383? If you do that I'm sure you'...

Just a comment from the sidelines, and I could be way off since I have no knowledge of metal stamping.... Could you put two plate designs on one die? Assuming you had relatively equal orders on the plate types this might be a good solution. (or an idiotic idea from from the ignorant) Just a thought....

Toweyb, Just to make sure you're not taking offence at peoples negative comments...I think they are answering your questions about feasability not the work you put into it. I think the attempt is great. I agree that it would look better with rounded corners so it had a more natural look. I also shar...

I think anything represented as typical 14cent harness is wrong. Defences were changing so much durring this time I don't think you could label anything typical whether we have a surviving example or not. As for the existance of the Corrazina... I think chances are good that something very similar e...

Vikings in Oklahoma!?!?
"Runestones in Oklahoma and Arkansas" This interesting fact about my state was brought back to my attention recently and I thought some of you might be interested in reading about it since its not something I have heard spoken about outside of Oklahoma. I'd be interested in your thoughts as well. If...

Marcus, Very nice work. I do hope you end up offering some later period sets as well. You will certainly sell a few if you do. The connection method makes alot of sence considering the limited strength of ratan. Oh, and you've got a nice beginning on the site.... looks to be several interesting prod...

What it sounds like your referring to is a bakhteretz. The plates do over lap and the mail holds the plates, going through a common hole in the overlapping plates to hold them together. There is no backing. Norman has some pretty good information on this site for this type of armour, though no const...

Ahh... ignorance is bliss Matt, especially when it comes to chiggers. Chiggers are wonderful littel grass inhabiting insects that live in the south (a stapple of life in Oklahoma and Texas to be sure) These tiny little bastards are basically the mite version of a "skeeter"... they latch on spit sali...

Could I get some clarification on the differences of the B1, B2 and B3. I know that they have increasing levels of thickness that they can handle but people seem to shy away from the B3 even though according to the rules of power tools is the best (strongest, most powerful, most overkill for the job...

Well, I just have to say thanks for all the help. I've gotten quite a bit. I still haven't found a "class" locally to attend but I have gotten into contact with the Saltfork folks. Best way to learn blacksmithing.......?
I have a desire to learn blacksmithing for a number of reasons but have been a bit stymied on how to go about getting this knowledge. Seems like too much chance of "very bad things" happening if I don't at least start with some sort of class/mentoring/apprenticeship but have not found anything local...

"It is doubtful that anything like it ever existed" Quite untrue. Its highly likely something like this existed. It is correct that the Met piece is a construct, but it is hardly the equivilant of a horned viking helm. The "flaud" of the corrazina is the biggest sticking point with most detractors a...

To really speak on that subject your going to have to go back earlier to see where those thoughts and actions come from. Luther was a ballsy guy but he didn't just wake up one day with those ideas. 100 year previous Jan Huss (often written John) was having his own rowe with the pope, which was broug...

Ralph, That is a excellent deal... I wonder however if that price point is a result of you being in Sweden and not a situation you'd find in other locations. Yes I did get your email. Sorry for not replying before this but I have now. Yes I am going western as well. I wanted a kit that made me feel a bit at home with the tourney groups.
