Just so you know Russ. R&R is run by Bob (Gaston) Hurley. He is moving into rapier fighting and has set up a discussion forum for all things fencing. Now, as for you comments.... Awwww!... but I wanna! I suppose you are correct and it is a sort of excuse for me to continue to play at an earlier pers...

Russian Fencing... (cross post from Rose and Rapier)

Here is a post that I made over at The Rose and Rapier concerning Early period Russian fencing.... Here is an interesting blurb I read which give the possible opportunity to have an earlier period (same time frame as I'm currently working on) fencer. "koncher or konchal, it was a long, straight swor...

Bojei, I'm glad I reread your post because I don't think I at first understood it fully. I can understand why my attitude may lead a woman to question wether she had actually beaten me or not because of my desire not to injure them. However, let me assure you that that comment does not mean I hold b...

Personally, I use paracord. Comes in nice colors, is strong, resists rot, you can get it any length you need, its cheep and its easy to work with.

Big draw back..... its hardly period.

Looks a bit like Nagy's work. I don't know the man but just what I have seen from him strikes me as being in the same family.

Regardless its beautiful stuff. Nice to see someone putting so much work into the little details like this kit.

Reversing the shape is an old engravers technique and in this case probably "sells" the shape better than reversing it to a concave shape. I've done the same thing a number of times (not in armour) and I really like the look.
