Damnit. I'd be there if not for two things:
-I won't possibly be able to have an outfit by then.
-I'll be in Austria at the time.
So close to me, yet so far out of my reach! Bummer. Hope it turns out well!

Via Armorari webpage! Check them out!
m Cool site! A member over at www.myarmoury.com had posted it in a thread talking about reproduction Gothic harnesses. They've made some neat stuff, seem familiar with the SCA (as they talk about it on one of the pages) and take care do get a good, accurate look! I'd be tempted to place an order, if...

Sussen/Deepeeka Nurenburg Armet... Comments?
I like this thing, and have since Deepeeka brought it out. Now Sussen is checking the quality and has them making it in 14 g. steel. I'm assuming that with a proper looking gorget, this would look quite good. Comments, please! m Cheers! -Gregory-

Mid-15th century tourney armor interpreting!
Hey folks, Reading through Knights At Tournament , the Osprey Elite #17 I've come across many interesting construction methods for tournament armor, and was wondering if someone could scrounge up some sources for some of this stuff! I'll just use a quote, here: The 'tonlet' as described and illustra...

Re: See i gotta crap load of stuff
Which is why Jesus is rolling his eyes. Just caught this. If you're referring to the part about the 14th century helm with the 15th century body, that's actually the next photograph, which doesn't include Jesus. So, either I just ruined a joke and made a good observation, or you can whack me on the...

Hey Thomas, I would probably get a jack from Matuls (www.matuls.pl) where they sell this: m In 20 layers for 370 Euro, or 30 layers for 440 Euro. James, I'm definitely planning on doing continental, as I mentioned, and will likely go with a Swiss/German look. This is because I'll continue to use the...

Hey Thomas, Thanks for the reply. No, it won't be for the SCA. Can you get me a picture of the sallet you're talking about. I can't think of one with cheek plates, or the like. It sounds very interesting! I THINK I might know what you mean, but it's very different than most sallets. Your other ideas...

When did the Barbute Appear?
'Ello, chaps! Wondering if I can get help regarding when the barbute most likely first started making its appearance in Northern Italy. Documented evidence dating to the 1420's would be very helpful! Also, what came first? The "Corinthian" or the T-faced style? Thanks, and enjoy your morning/afterno...

"Kuyak" Slavic body armor, what the heck?
Hello, I really like these guys at Armstreet. They make some neat stuff, and put it on Ebay, even! But, the last time I saw something like this at a local SCA event, I laughed about how silly it was... Kuyak Body Armor Is there something accurate about this? Of course, don't mind the stainless steel...

LH Persona Hunt... What am I doing?
'Ello folks, How's everyone doin' today? I got to stay home from school because I had a physical examination for sports this semester, and almost fainted when I had my blood drawn! Ha! So, I've been on the archive all day, and figured that posting a thread askin' for some advice and opinions wouldn'...

There I was talking about making a leather-covered steel helmet, David. I was posting in response to Agnarr's post right above my own... Indeed, I may... As soon as my late 14th century kit is done (just a few months away from that point) I plan on launching a project for a cheap kit, which I'll make a later 13th century outfit. I want to use such a helm for that. Then, well, after that, is a secret between myself and Dan Houchins;) ...

Cet, would the silvering or gilding process make the helms not have the qualities of leather, from the outside? Seeing them made of leather would definitely be more realistic than getting them in metal. I may end up doing the impression for living history, although I'm doubting it, since I don't hav...

Thanks Rev, I won't bother, now. The only time I got whacked in the head with a steel helm on was a 16 gauge top and I only had two layers of craft felt below it! (!!!) A weirdo from a local reenactment group told me he didn't like helmets, and I asked why. He told me to put my helmet on, and then he slammed his forehead into mine,...

Maybe it's more of an obsession... To address the point of weight... If I'm correct, a helm would be about 28 inches around for me... 12" high. That's two square feet, plus about half of that for the top, or added angles. Say 2.5 square feet. Almost two pounds. Double-layer 12 oz. leather, as I said...

Leather helm for SCA Combat?
Hello folks, It seems that everyone uses steel for their helms, and says it's not a good idea to do otherwise... The handbook states: "Helms shall be constructed of steel of no less than 16 gauge, or of equivalent material." What if I wanted a leather helm constructed from two layers of water-harden...

Chef, of course I realized that it was tournament gear, and was probably out of the ordinary... Would it be used in tournament combat, though? I'd assume so, unless if someone says otherwise. It would be a cool kit for SCA tournaments, in my opinion. Light and fast, yet protective (with a gambeson) ...

13th century tournament armor w/o mail?

The text is interesting to go through, and gives lots of specifics to support the assumptions about the tournaments that are made....
