Damnit. I'd be there if not for two things:

-I won't possibly be able to have an outfit by then.
-I'll be in Austria at the time.

So close to me, yet so far out of my reach! Bummer. Hope it turns out well!

Is yours globular or shaped beyond the one in that image there, or is it flat on the front and back? If so, I don't think any type of breastplate significant in history could match that. It'd be more for purely sports combat, or the like.

Via Armorari webpage! Check them out!

m Cool site! A member over at www.myarmoury.com had posted it in a thread talking about reproduction Gothic harnesses. They've made some neat stuff, seem familiar with the SCA (as they talk about it on one of the pages) and take care do get a good, accurate look! I'd be tempted to place an order, if...

Sussen/Deepeeka Nurenburg Armet... Comments?

I like this thing, and have since Deepeeka brought it out. Now Sussen is checking the quality and has them making it in 14 g. steel. I'm assuming that with a proper looking gorget, this would look quite good. Comments, please! m Cheers! -Gregory-

Karl,

I'm eager to see what the new bargrill looks like! To double-check, will this helm be okay for someone with a 23" head circumference, with a padded coif (from Revival) and appropriate padding inside of the helm?

Thanks!

Mid-15th century tourney armor interpreting!

Hey folks, Reading through Knights At Tournament , the Osprey Elite #17 I've come across many interesting construction methods for tournament armor, and was wondering if someone could scrounge up some sources for some of this stuff! I'll just use a quote, here: The 'tonlet' as described and illustra...

Re: See i gotta crap load of stuff

Which is why Jesus is rolling his eyes. Just caught this. If you're referring to the part about the 14th century helm with the 15th century body, that's actually the next photograph, which doesn't include Jesus. So, either I just ruined a joke and made a good observation, or you can whack me on the...

Cool, cool!

When did the Barbute Appear?

'Ello, chaps! Wondering if I can get help regarding when the barbute most likely first started making its appearance in Northern Italy. Documented evidence dating to the 1420's would be very helpful! "Kuyak" Slavic body armor, what the heck?

Hello, I really like these guys at Armstreet. They make some neat stuff, and put it on Ebay, even! I'm assuming because he's wearing lamellar, he's aiming at a bit earlier period than the 14th century? I don't think there's much evidence to support such greaves in Scandinavian or Byzantine cultures, if that's what you're aiming for.

Cet, would the silvering or gilding process make the helms not have the qualities of leather, from the outside? Maybe it's more of an obsession... To address the point of weight... If I'm correct, a helm would be about 28 inches around for me... 12" high. Leather helm for SCA Combat?

Hello folks, It seems that everyone uses steel for their helms, and says it's not a good idea to do otherwise...
