Not a dished one. Impossible. Tell the Greeks that... You could use Matthew Amt's method: m Or you could do it like many aspis makers do theirs, and laminate boards together that are properly warped before being put together. Yes, it'd be costly... But it's far from impossible. -Gregory-

Hey Vitus,

Can you PM me the details on your usual fiberglass covered shields? Or do you do them custom, generally? I'm doing a German impression, circa 1375. Need a good shield, and wanted some details about yours, knowing they're held in such high asteem!

Thanks!

German Harnesses- 1430-1450

'Ello folks, I've fallen in love with Mac's mid-15th century German harness. It's dated to 1440, and he took some liberties from the original effigy to suit his customer's needs. I want further information on this type of harness, and pictures of examples, if possible! Also, if I don't find a good p...

Wow, this has turned into quite an informative thread! I'm glad I posted the picture... Thank you all, for the help! I really love the Maxmillian armor, but I'm still debating what I'll do for sure. Having a half harness would be fun for SCA, though. That's certain!

Cheers!

Irish, No problem. Just wanted to be clear on what I'd heard. Budo, There was no stainless back in the day. They rusted back then, so in my opinion, MY armor should be able to rust, now. It is very useful for maintainance, etc... I have nothing against stainless for what it is, but for my own purpos...

Insane, I'd always figured the Staunton helm was around 1315 or so. Can you provide reasoning for it being later? I really can't say which seems more correct either way, except that I've heard one thing and now you're saying something else. On the "75 Years of Great Helms" site: m The Staunton's dat...

Thanks for the information, guys. I'll do some searching around to find a proper half-harness. Wasn't getting much luck on Arador, I suppose! Maxmillian Half-Harnesses

Hello folks, Browsing through Arador's gallery a while back I came across the photos from The Royal Museum of The Army and Military in Brussels, Belgium. Pictures were taken by Eli Steenput, to give credit where it's due. I was particularly fascinated by this very short half-harness in the Maxmillia...

DV, I'd like to say that although I strongly feel that as a Medieval recreation group the SCA is lacking, your armor doesn't help it to become better. That's my opinion.
