Cameron, Anything you can come up with would be very appreciated! Nick, Measurements? Wow! Do you still have them? Although my main concern is getting the angles right on the upper pieces, the overall meansurements of the pieces would be awesome, too. If you have them, please share! You can email th...

The piece should take on some wild warpage during the forming of the knuckles. I wouldn't try to put too much of the proper curvature in it beforehand, or you'll have a hell of a time getting it back to the right shape afterwards, anyway. -Gregory- (This is based on what I've read, and the bits of m...

Okay, I'm glad I know about the length, now. I'll take it that getting 3/8ths won't be too bad. 14 gauge steel is 0.075" thick, and this particular sheet (where we used electronic calipers on it) is 0.074." So, right on the money. That times two is .15", which is less than half of .375", and that's ...

Indeed, Justin, I'll be making a pattern. I said that in the post just above yours. Rivets, I already have the site, but I'm not sure about all of the specifics. 3/8ths body diameter is huge, though. I'm probably going to go with 1/4 inch. I suspect I'll go 1/2-5/8th" in length, as well. Actually, I...

I plan on wearing a bascinet under most circumstances, although having one of these, well, to have, will be nice! The added plus of possibly having it to fight in will just be that much nicer!...

Alaric, You're looking at it from the outside, though, from a neutral point. From the inside, if you are saying yours is true, it's impossible for the other to be, as it would defy what you consider "truth." You and Effingham/whoever else was making the other point are both making sense, but you're ...

Yeah, file doesn't come up. Checked the source, and it was some kind of Yahoo image, but there's no file type tagged at the rear-end of the sucker, and it's really, really congested with letters and such.

Try attaching it from your own folders, rather than linking to it.

If you find another vendor with the same models as By-the-sword for cheaper, but want to go with the service at BTS, then you can see if you qualify for their price match stuff through the other vendor. Check their main page for information.

David, May I ask the benefits of getting such pieces done in leather? Are they stronger or do they have more life-span? More breathe to them? Etc... I really like these. Probably couldn't grab one right now (as much as I'd like to) but I must poke my head in and say I'm now dreadfully confused.

Were these molds made from reproductions based on the exact originals, or are they made from the exact originals themselves?

Hey guys, Because we haven't quite jumped on the SCA wagon yet, and don't have armor yet, my friend Justin and I usually vent our need to be around people who are somewhat like us (in that they like history, although many don't quite appreciate it as much!) at Renaissance faires. Yes, it would be a rivet for holding a crest box, which would be situated in between those ridges on the skull. The box would have a horsehair crest, like later Hellenic and Hellenistic examples. The rivets with ties would likely be considered a primative form of suspension for a crest box. Later, p...

As for the claim that Mycenaean warriors wore no armor, how do you explain the most recent finds at Thebes, or the Dendra Panoply, or scales found in Mycenae, or numerous other finds. We know ancient Greeks (pre-Hellenic) wore Bell Cuirasses, such as those found at Argos. We know they had greaves, s...

This is all bunk, to be honest. Including the dates for the Trojan War. No one even knows if a literal war based on Homer's stories did take place! This book is from 1963. That looks exactly like the 155 pounder that I got (for free!) and have been using for some time. If it's the same model (even though that guy says his bathroom scale puts it at 142) then it's quite a nice piece, indeed!
