Hey guys, Lotsa' awesome information, comin' in! Josh, Konstantine, thanks for the last few images, there! I really like Hohenklingen! At the moment, I don't have the money to put together a "really" accurate get-up, especially as I can't afford to get mail now, and would need to size my arm armor d...

Awesome set. I really like the styling, and the blending is indeed superb! I'm glad I like armor though, because it's nigh impossible to do skin impressions just right.

I'd like to say that it's gestures like these that make the Armour Archive a special place to be, and more importantly, make America a special country to live in.

I agree with you about the dates. But I disagree about the artists not making literal interpretations of the armor... I really can't argue for it, as I don't have lots of experience doing so. I know many people take effigies at their face value, and I'm sure someone will pipe up who does, and knows ...

Hey, no mail for me, simply because of my budget! Also, it weighs enough that being without it will help. This is for SCA use, after all! I suppose a good klappvisor bascinet will suffice. But, I do love great helms. No one in heavy combat has a horse in the SCA, so there are plenty of folks who hav...

Wow, Kit! Thanks for all of the awesome images and explanations! Those all help a bunch! I'd like to note that I won't be wearing any mail with this kit, with the exception of perhaps an aventail/coif. I'm also debating between a klappvisor, globose-visored bascinet or a great helm, still. I'm leani...

Plate Armor Questions- Circa 1375

Hey folks, I've decided what steel pieces I need to get for my SCA kit, but I just don't know exactly what I'll want it all to look like. So, some help would be nice! I'm going for a German look, at around 1375. I'm getting "splinted" greaves, cuisses, vambraces and upper cannons from Dan at House o...

Hey Patric,

As a note, Beathan and the gang over at Armour and Castings are very willing to take on custom armor orders, so you might want to shoot him an email about a different style. I'm sure the price wouldn't vary too much.

14-15 oz. won't bend like you need that stuff too. That's the approximate thickness of the cuir bouilli that Dan Houchins makes. I've bought some for makin' some armor related stuff, and it's extremely hard unless wet. Putting it in the place of that material on the Indian armors shown would not wor...

What are the dimensions? My knuckles across my four fingers are 3.5" across, and my wrist is 7" around just between the joint and hand. Would these fit me with a pair of gloves on? I'm very interested, if so, and will bid $80 if that's the case!

Ah, so, if I were to buy this "Deepeeka" bascinet from Karl, that had been made to his design (I reread the quote and it didn't literally say they'd made it) then I'll probably get better quality than the usual items (if what he's sayin' about the helm is true) plus the 14 gauge. Hey folks, I'm wanting to make a flat heater shield from a solid piece of 1/2" oak plywood for SCA combat. It's going to be early 14th century.
