16th century Scotsman help!

Hey folks, I'm interested in doing a 16th or possibly a 17th century Scottish outfit for Reniassance faires. I want to be as accurate as possible, but also work on a budget of several hundred dollars. I'd really like to use a Claymore, and I definitely want a kilt and knee-length leggings! But, I al...

Hey James,

I talk to Matt daily (due to our Bronze Age activities) and he's low on custom craftsmen, at the moment! I have all of the links he's got, anyway. I got a hold of Parker Brown, though, so hopefully something will work out with him. I've always admired his work!

Quote Wanted on Gladiator Helmet!

I'm interested in getting quotes for a particular gladiator helmet... It will be in bronze, and can be made using modern methods of construction (i.e. Two halves for the top, etc.) as long as it looks original from the outside! This particular example has a hinged-visor on it, which opens down the m...

Indeed, that'd be the one I'm after, Tim! I was actually going to purchase it from Von Sussen! My head is only 22.5" in circumference, so most Deepeeka helmets would probably fit me. If not, he has a 10 day return policy, even over Ebay. But, I've got an idea there are several other things I'll be p...

This is my mid/late 14th century outfit. From Historic Enterprises, I've got on an undershirt, tunic, braies, chausses, garters, belt, pouch and hood. From Revival Leather, I've got 14th century boots. Cheers! -Gregory-

Deepeeka Products: Dates Needed! (3rd-5th century)

Hey folks, I collect Deepeeka items... Yeah, that sounds kinda' crazy, but, I do! I guess I like the bang for the buck of it all, since I'm only a teenager and have only limited funds, etc. So, I've got a few pieces I've been eyeing, but would like some accurate dates to go along with them! First is...

"Savoyard Helmet" Origins?

Hey guys, Found this picture of this helmet on the Hermann somethin'or'rather auction site... Really like it! Said it was Flemish and dated to about 1620. What kind of armor would be worn with it at that time? Does anyone have any other images of similar examples? I really like it! Cheers! -Gregory-...

FS: Deepeeka Viking Sword, great price!

Hey folks, I've got a Deepeeka Viking Sword with hilt and pommel based on the Hedeby find. The sword is rather hefty, but not too hard to wield. It's got a good blade, and it's dulled, as it comes from the factory. The paint on the one I bought was coming off, and was not a good job. So, I did my be...

Nice. That one is very nice. what era is it from?

That is also an Italo-Attic helmet, much like the one I posted. It would date to somewhere around 300 BC, approximately.

Hal,

Mercury is the Roman name for the Greek God Hermes, who was the messenger of Zeus (or Jupiter, as the Romans would say!)

(p.s. I mention this because Hermes was already acknowledged in the thread.)

Here's a Hellenistic example of an "Italo-Attic" helmet, simply meaning that it was a helmet of the Attic type found in Italy! :D

A jack is substantially thicker than your average gambeson (or aketon, if you're English!) They were usually made from about 20-30 layers of quilted linen, if I'm not mistaken. That'd be in comparison to aketons, which would usually have less than half that amount, and primarily be made for wearing ...

Fluffy... Like, if you've handled Historic Enterprises wool items, such as their caps or chausses. That type of fluffy. Rough, rather. I could have custom cast stud made for you but the cost would be fearsome for pieces---at least $3 apiece.

Hey guys, I've got a couple of commissions from Dan for a leather helmet base and a cuirass setup for a Bronze Age impression I'm doing.
