Re: FS: Many nice medieval goods! /Prices Slashed (Again!)/

Sorry to hear that, Paladin! Your arms must be quite a bit longer than mine.

*Bump* for the rest of this stuff - everything shown is still available. I've reduced the prices again - almost can't imagine some of it going for much less. Everything's a deal! :)

Thanks, Jehan. It's very appreciated! Consider it a hiatus, though, and one that will include blips of work, at that. :)

Re: Crossroads in Time 2014

Glad to see that the shield came in handy! Since I crafted it I've taught myself a thing or two about the positioning of the gendarmes based on logic and original shields, but it should have been alright to wield, I hope? Cheers!

Re: 14th Century German Surnames

Clinker, Ernst wrote it out correctly, and I think Kalle is on the right track as far as how the secondary element (Peckelsheim, in this case) is an additive based on holdings. However, I can't recall seeing any 12th or 13th century names that incorporated "zu" in official records. Tertiary holdings...

FS: Nice Large Spearhead! $40

Hello folks, This started as a "leaf bladed" spear by Windlass and has been heavily modified. It's quite sharp and was very carefully ground down without allowing much heat to penetrate the blade, so its temper still seems good. It's a beast, at 17" total length with an 11" blade. Suitable for a sha...

I'm positive Jeff Hildebrandt at Royal Oak Armoury could make one - in fact he may have before, but I'm not able to get on his site just now (internet's being goofy).

Hey Florian,

I'm afraid that $80 is gonna' be my limit on that set. It took a lot of hours to make, and I had really hoped to get more in the range of $100 for it.

Reserving the cloak for Tuomas since he got back to me in a timely fashion, and Klaus and I are wheelin' and dealin' on the tunic (which I assume didn't work for Corbyn since I haven't heard from him) and belt pouch. Cheers!

Re: what do we know about late 14th and early 15th c. Sabato

As far as "target zones" go, it may be interesting to look over the details compiled for Johannes Keller's thesis as compared with some data on other relevant websites, which is summarized nicely in this article on tameshigiri.ca. Of hundreds of injuries reviewed I can't see much damage to feet. Fac...

FS: Computer Games & Napoleonic 1/72 Figures

I have the following games for sale. I would like $50 for all of them, shipped. Every CD should be in great condition as the games were either lightly or not used at all. I have most of the booklets for them, and a couple are still in their boxes. Rome: Total War Shogun: Total War Shogun: Total War ...

Folks, prices have been slashed on all remaining items! I'd love to move this stuff ASAP! Paladin, Concerning the tunic - when my arms were down at my sides the sleeves came just to my wrist, as a nice dress jacket would. If I lifted them up, they'd draw back some. Period artwork suggests that there...

EDIT: I really have no reason to be playing devil's advocate... Just procrastinating on other work. I see many reasons to be wary of using such a random element of artistic depictions to cast judgment on the reality of using (or not using) sabatons in combat. The conclusion you make regarding saintl...

Re: what do we know about late 14th and early 15th c. Sabato

Gerhard, I think there are too many examples from different sources for that to be the only answer. It seems like it was not at all uncommon for otherwise fully armed men to go without sabatons. I was being facetious, Mac. I just don't see the point in trying to understand the "trade off" between c...

Yeah, about 95% of the stuff on the market is Chinese reproduction work based on Japanese military originals. I think the reason that Usama thought to mention the story, which didn't directly involve him, was probably because it was spectacular and unusual - as most of his combat anecdotes were.
