Re: FS: Red/White Midwest 12' Circle Pavilion
'Eh? Well, in the title and the description on the Midwest site, it's called 12' diameter. I think the 16 ropes are supposed to stretch out a few yards further.

Okie dokey, folks. It looks like Phileppe is ready to pay for the braies and chausses. Cailen, my apologies, but in order to keep things simple and moving along I'm going to give Brucer the opportunity for the belt. That way I can process payments soon and start shipping things before the week's out...

I don't think anyone's going to buy it all (Meinhard bet me a beer on that one). I'll just start parting it all out. Shipping for the shirts will be $20, for the kit of stuff will be $10. Paypal is wisgliebau@yahoo.com Considering how many items I have, let's just keep the conversation here rather t...

FS: Many nice 13th/14th C. clothes and accessories!
Hello folks, I've got a pile of (mostly) lightly used gear suitable for 13th/14th century living history quality reenactment. I am 6' tall and weigh 170 pounds and all of this clothing fits me well. Many of the items have been lovingly customized with trim, painted details, etc... Please refer to th...

FS: Two Repro. Medieval Chess Sets
I have for sale two reproduction medieval chess sets. The first is a cast stone set that is commonly advertised for sale online and often designated "fourteenth century German," though I have not seen an original set exactly like it. I bought this set new on Ebay. I received it with one of the knigh...

Re: WTB Linothorax & Corinthian helm
West Coast Armoury has supplied the Kingdom of Lochac and the Barony of Rowany with around twenty-ish Corinthians of varying styles. All have been well received, well made and timely. Making so many has allowed him to drop his basic Corinthian price to pretty darn low. http://westcoastarmoury.com/i...

I can only promise to bring an ample selection of fruit with me, Jehan. It will probably be most appropriate for snacks rather than incorporating into meals. Though, as far as what secondary research I've read on the subject goes, the European nobility generally did not find it acceptable to eat fru...

Re: Looking for a Blacksmith to make custom armor
To actually made the suit to its original proportions it would probably have to be set away from the body in many places (unless if the wearer were built like Schwarzenegger). This would add considerably to the amount of sheet metal necessary, compared to typical, close fitting historical armor. I i...

Wikipedia: "The present base was added after its 17th century rediscovery." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dying_Gaul Based on what I recollect from the old edumacation, most original, stand alone Greco-Roman bronze and marble sculptures did not have extravagant bases or other interfering objects....

I'm really procrastinating a lot getting an article and a couple of commissions done. Well, procrastinating relative to when *I* wanted the stuff done - still way ahead of schedule. I feel you, Torvaldr. I've been buying from Tandy for some years now and was recently shocked by how they've changed the prices. I'm not sure if it's nationwide but now they're also charging by the total pieces rather than square footage - forcing me to buy larger pieces rather than focusing on qual...

Vitus, too kind. Everyone else, as well. Chris and others, thank you for your bids. Here's to eight days of auctioning left! Would love someone to click that $500 buy-it-now.

If you don't have any archery experience I would recommend finding someone local to you who does and who can take you out to shoot a bow or three before you consider spending $170. You also have to consider where you're going to shoot and how often you'll be able to get out (if you want to be good a...

Re: Gerhard's Fineries - Open for Commission!
I'd maybe start a thread asking about those, Matt. Seems like just a little drape of leather would hide the vervelles well enough, but I don't think the detail on those effigies is attempting to mock leather - looks more like rather intensely hammered bronze or the like. I could definitely make some...

Maybe like this one? http://www.familienforschung-rehder.de/images/TOPFHELM.JPG *runs and hides* A lot of people have cited the weird ocular positioning on the example above as a reason that it "must be Victorian and non-functional". Gerhard's Fineries - Open for Commission!
Howdy folks, I'm on track with a dwindling number of projects, and am opening my queue for commissions. I'm not sure if Russ is referring to the same maker or distributor as my bow from the Gardenia-Lane Ebay store; their shipping experience was excellent. Not only was I not charged for shipping over the buy-it-now price, but the arrows arrived from China within a week of the payment being made. I pla...

Finally got out to use my arrows. They're excellent for the price. They are not as heavy as my Koppedrayer arrows and two or three of the dozen are clearly not very straight down the spine, yet all of them shoot capably. I broke one behind a falling target board the first round it was fired, so now ...
