His email works. He's notoriously unreliable: screwed me hard, screwed POD but made up for it, and not too long ago did somebody really right, took care of the dude when he didn't have to. So the guy's a mixed bag. Keep trying, though, and pester him when he posts. If he ever catches the personal re...

Fishing for info: what's a good trade for finger gauntlets?

I have a sweet pair that were given to me as a gift by Janos, but I have really big hands for a guy my sized, and they bite me. I'm thinking of selling them, or else swapping them, for something of more use for a steppe-type kit, or raw materials, etcetera. Unfortunately, I can't find Janos' email t...

Learn how to use the weapon before you smack other people with it. Sorry if that sounds harsh... but six months of hard work, with no sparring whatsoever, and lots of drills, drills, drills, will do more for your eventual safety than anything else. And if anybody wants to smack his friends with live...

Big-time major ditto/bump. My professor showed me how to work brass and copper in traditional Transylvanian style -- there's a lot of little stuff I could be doing if I could find ready access to sheet metals, rather than uberthick structural stuff.

(Non-SCA comment). Legalities of construction and such aside, a mace lets you throw lateral-arm shots that are nonsensical with a sword (imagine your forearm rotating, so your palm alternates orientation. Then put body english on it, and imagine being on the receiving end.) "I've played PingPong in ...

Gorelik's work is just amazing in general... I can't imagine the breadth of skill digwise in being able to separate out all the different cultures' materials. Wanted: donation of two (2) golf-tube arrows.

I've heard numerous complaints at how worthless these things are for SCA battles, and as I've learned more about how reed arrows were constructed in period, have an idea as to how they could be improved, if my understanding of their construction is correct. Therefore, I am wondering if anybody who c...
