The one sticking point (no pun intended) with that helm would be the ruling against projections that can cause undue damage to weapons. I'm paraphrasing the rule here.
I can see a marshall bouncing that helm as a weapon coming down on your helm could be impaled upon that top spike.

As in helmet comes to a point?? Not an issue with SCA combat rules.

Loaded with spikey bits all over it?? There will be restrictions.

I was doing the same search you were a couple months ago. What I ended up doing was grabbing the tutorial from Konstantine I believe it was and then sweettalked a seamstress into making it for me.
I had her make it from a linen shell and raw cotton batting.. I love it.

Hjalmr,
Hell I've been recommending your helms since the Klapvisor I saw from you. My only suggestion to you would be in the area of your hinges. I think they need beefed up a little. But overall quality is just fine.

absolute worst Tourney I entered was back in 99 or 2000. Went to passing of the Unicorn. Long ass drive with a shitty hotel stay getting there. I was traveling with two ladies. Their armor got bounced. I couldn't use my weapons because my 7.5 ft pole was unpadded and even as someone coming from a di...

You'll have A B C or D sizing. I'm gonna guess you will be a B in both department. but there is a conversion chart there as I explained measure the elbows and knees point to point with your pads on. The outside measurement will determine your size.

Loose the epaulettes on the surcoat and get spaulders that point to your gambeson thru the mail. I found and bookmarked an effigy (which I can't find right now) showing the long sleeveless surcoat you're wearing so that's not a big issue. When I track it down I'll post it here. Also, what style of b...

The one thing I personally hate about painting a helm black... It sucks in heat like there is no tomorrow if you don't cover it on a sunny day. Now with a kettle helm it might not be that much a problem. Powder coating would be my vote if you can find a shop handy to do it. otherwise. a good primer ...

for years we used a horse shower set up. that worked pretty well. to make sure we had pressure we used a deep cycle marine battery with an inverter and a small submersible pump to feed the heater. worked pretty well for us. Now I'm considering getting a propane water heater for the camp.
