First question... What are you? If you're a 12th century crusader giving you patterns/advice for a 14/15th century rig would be kinda silly. Second question. IN real dollar figures how much can you afford to put out on armor. This would help us to direct you towards those merchants that are within y...

I wore a houndskull for the first time this Pennsic. Once for the Combat of the thirty which didn't seem to affect me much. After one of the larger battles I went back to my bargrill as it cut off my vision too much for my comfort. Way too much going on around me I couldn't see. Now were I to have a...

I would suggest you PM robyn about her entire rig. It is all stonekeep manufacture from what I can tell. As a personal testimony. I bout a pair of fanless blue knee cops for myself and articulated spring knees for my lady. We both love what we got. I've refered many many folks to Mike for armor. Mos...

Funny you should mention this. I just had a request from one of my household to do such a thing regarding the rules of the list. I simply copied the rules themselves then after each one gave a layman's translation in three sentences or less. Next I'll be trying something along this same line regardi...

My advice on this quite simply. Quit wasting your time on those who would rather do elsewise and find those with the same burning in their gut for the struggle. For years I hollered, coaxed, jokingly derided members of my household to get in armor and fight. You know what happened? I only managed to...

I would assume hiring mercs comes after each War King exhausts his efforts to win over his fellow Royals from the other Kingdoms. Some of the Kingdom's presence may be smaller then a merc unit but the depth that most of those Kingdom's that travel the farthest pack a MEAN punch. That would be a bad...

I strapped mine with a strap across the palm just at the top of the thumb, a strap across the thumb and one at the first knuckles of the fingers. For the thumb tip and the middle two fingers, I had sewn tabs to the fingers that were then riveted to the gauntlets. I find this to be damn near perfect ...

Lemme guess he had a funky looking Polearm with two thrusting tips running 90 degrees from the head and a small white plume off his bullet shaped helm? Long story short. I started training this guy years ago and then he vanished off the face of the earth. He came to my camp this past war and apologi...

I tend not to worry about shiny on the helm so much as preventing rust. So I go with an old tried and true method of further rust prevention. I brown my helms. Let helm sit out overnight and get a fine patina of rusting. brush this off and apply wd40 or some other oil and let it soak into the helm. ...
