My questions were usually. Have you read the rules of the list? What are legal targets? How much force do you use with a face thrust? How much force for thrusts to other parts of the body? Are cup shots legal? Those were my standards for authorizing fighters.

First off, Armor works. That's why we wear it. IF you are hitting too hard, your buddies will let you know. Much like they are letting you know you hit too soft. Trust your armor and the armor of those you are fighting. This will help I suspect Secondly, although this may fall into the first one......

Actually I do 14th century SCA.. So the helm is not compatable with what I wanted to do. I had gotten it in mind for my stepson who's gourd is way small for it.. I also however has a deal pending right now now for a youth Helm but there is a second buyer after me. So I can most likely back off that....
