I had bought some full gauntlets off them Years ago. Well built, but kinda heavy for my taste. Sold them to another fighter he's still using them. So I would say quality is right up there as they've been used now for 10 years..

You could also make an armored surcoat out of canvas/plastic.. and use everything else you have and it's a 13th/early 14th century kit.

I think you'll find that to be a little weak just going front to back. The basket weave will give you the strength you're looking for and the ventiliation. Ok, sorry I though by defintion coif meant as a piece of apparal rather than an addition to a helm. So in this case the coif would be a chainmail aventail? okay, got to the shop and traced out the pattern pieces. basically it's two pieces and you simply mirror them..

I use a tire that's been filled with concrete. Sticking up from the center of the concrete is a 12" by 1/2" metal rod... over that is placed a 4x4 tapped to fit over the steel rod. The 4x4 is then wrapped in carpet.
Makes a very sturdy pell with the bonus of being moveable.

Not yet, but I expect after the workshop on March 8th, I'll have plenty of before and after pics to put up. I have Briog and Meurig, my two men at arms/primary workshop apprentices already forwarned that we will be burning the midnight oil, and a few saw motors that weekend... :D

I'd go with Mad Matt or Stonekeep myself. If you want "Ready to roll out and bang" Stonekeep...IF you want to build some of it yourself so you can say "I worked on building this" Matt is the way to go with his Coat of Plates kit and the other goodies..
