Re: Proper Ransom for the CotT

If you would indulge a new person as to what you guys are discussing regarding ransoms? I've not attended a war yet and am not familiar with ransoms, how they come about and what you need to have on hand. Are these special wars that have ransoms or do most of them? Thanks in advance. Not a war, a s...

I see no reason it wouldn't pass muster. You need to contact the Captains and see if one or the other will invite you to his respective team. Count Stephen (English) and His Grace Nigel (French) are the Captains this year.

OK.. I got to say this: The Iron Chicken stance has got to go. It's mildly dishonorable, and not really historic. The Iron Chicken, and all it's derivatives, have got to go. They are crap. Stupid dishonorable crap. Discuss. -Ivan Wow, this almost like hearing rails against, Combat Archery, Spears, ...

Guy in my household fought for years in an old set of East German Riot gear. He never had an issue with it. I however wouldn't have fought in it.. That same guy also ADDED several plates (around the ribs, kidneys, tail-bone and pelvic plate) of high-impact plastic for additional coverage/protection...

I have a pair of the padded cuisses purchased from Therion. I tore off the leather knee and pointed soupcan knees in their place. For melee's I love em. Single combat, I would prefer something under them. Perhaps the zoombang shorts discussed in Blackoak's thread.

Re: The Iron Chicken stance has got to go (SCA).

Iron chicken has it's place...The shield wall. It also has it's place for shorter fighters needing to get in. Offense (though limited) can be used from it. And Like Havoc, I live in Aethelmearc so that arm gets to be a target. There is no "hiding behind anyone at all's sense of honor". We ...

I have a riveted Aluminium haubergeon I wear under my breast plate. It's held up fairly well as it's not the primary outer defense.

One thing to note with these. You will want to powder coat it black or a dark grey. The bare metal makes you look like an extra from a Uwe Bohl film..
