Definately not rapier. This is a sidesword or "cut and thrust" sword hence my opinion that it is actually using very real weaponry blunted or otherwise and why I oppose it's use in the SCA. Hrm. That may have been the case during the initial experiments (I wasn't there, and haven't asked ...

My problems stem from the historical style aspect. If we try to use only historical styles then that limits people in an area to practicing only the styles known by their trainers. Another point is fighting unorthodox opponents is referenced in a couple manuals, so by that argument not having a spe...

I haven't had a huge problem with it, but I haven't done armored combat for Adria yet. Doing SCA heavy and rapier hasn't affected my ability to do things in WMA, and vice-versa. I'm not great at any one of these, but it's pretty easy for me to play, so long as I recall that I'm playing a different g...

I will reward them myself if they shoot bards. Right in the mouth. Though I suppose the throat would do as well. I suddenly have the urge to commission a bard who is otherwise clueless to write a song about you, and then send them to your camp to sing it next Pennsic. Now, to find one who truly des...

Audax, I linked to both styles. I've had problems with mine from Revival clothing (I think each boot has one fully functional strap left that hasn't been repaired/replaced/restitched), but I'm also given to understand that they've reworked them at some point in the past? Mine are in the 1.5-2 year r...

I've got no problems with my flat-soled shoes and boots, unless I'm on asphalt or concrete. Hrm, or waxed tile floors.

On other terrain types, including cobblestone floors, I've had no problems whatsoever.

As Derian suggests...get a CdB arming cotte/jupon and put pockets in for barrel plastic or ABS, or put them in an undergarment. Saves you weight and protects the vital spots you want protected, and they can be removed to be laundered. Then you've got some extra weight to put in to a helmet and maybe...
