would a low strength loctite a blue make a difference? does the loosening come from movement in the hilt, or loss of clamping pre-load? I had a friend use loctite on the nut for his katzbalger from Scott with the same nut assembly, and it's been working fine for him. I'm just not trying the loctite...

If you're going for SCA period heraldry, the tierce is allowable in SCA heraldry, but isn't really period heraldry. (That is, not used in period that the College of Heralds is aware of.) The more immediate downside is that SCA heraldry considers a tierce with a charge on it to look like impaled arms...

I don't know if you are looking for a C&T blade or a rapier blade, but IMHO Scott makes some of the best out there. My local Don and his cadets all use DW blades for their cut and thrust work, so that's the only experience with them I have, but they all seem happy with them. Given that he's wor...

It might be technically possible, since embowed just means 'bent', but it typically refers to limbs and fish, and occasionally ordinaries in English heraldry. It's more common in French & German heraldry, but still with the same categories. I don't think I've ever seen a tree or plant embowed --...

I have the English II from Darkwood. I like it quite a bit, especially for Silver. In my particular case, I've had to tighten the nut they're using down at the pommel a few times, and correct some vibration in the hilt. Nothing major, though. The blade itself has held up pretty well to some abuse an...

I won't call myself an expert in period heraldry, but here's what I've noticed 1) KEEP IT SIMPLE - and yes, there are still plenty of simple devices that can be registered without running into conflicts 2) Keep the number of tinctures to a minimum - I'd say two or three AT most. And, there are cert...

Puck and Mary Curtis' site has some of the basic information: m The idea that you see in the Spanish circle repeats itself (in a less complex format) in various other rapier manuals -- Viggiani has his tree of cuts, Meyer has a couple of diagrams laid out in the woodcuts. It's the if-then chart for ...

If I recall correctly, the gent in question was wearing an unpadded steel gorget and *I think* it was under a drape. It looked a lot like when they were striking each other they had a lot of draw to their cuts instead of just hacking. i am very curious about the cut and thrust thing but I cant help but think it's gonna be watered down by people afraid of it and end up in the same boat as fencing is today. That would be sad. I kinda wish you could catch a practice here not to change your mind, but to see some of us are trying to get this moving in a more realistic direction, a direction like cut and thrust. A direction that would have been in the late 1500's. You should come out and try C&T some time. We have an au...

(as an unashamed hard suiter) I like rapier, but don't know that I am willing to slow down to the touch shot power. OK. This was written in 1994, with changes approved in 98. m Take a look at my post -- Ansteorra's white scarf treaty titled them Don/Dona (1979), and it wasn't until 1991 that Don/Dona were ruled to be titles that were not reserved for the Chivalry (at a Society level), as Ansteorra had locally ov...

I'm a big fan of "go walk up and down a gravel/asphalt road" method.

Once you rough up the soles, they'll have some traction.

I'll second the comment about the pregnant woman in dangerous/slick conditions, though.
