Fish scale has the bascinet at 6lbs 12ish oz. Oddly, I could find the fish scale, but not a flexible measuring implement. My head's a 23.5" circumference, and it goes on over my head, but doesn't leave a lot of room for padding. I'd estimate it was made for a head in the range of 21.5"-22&...

Definitely like the breast and back ...any measurements on it? I'm around 5'11'' with a 43" chest (bit larger with padding on). I'm 6'4"ish and about a 44-46" chest. It fits me snugly/tightly, but I haven't messed with the shoulder straps for a better fit on the back plate. Might nee...

Storage Sale, part II

In my ongoing efforts to empty out my storage unit, I've got another load of items up for sale. Pembridge Great Helm, James River Armoury. Unstrapped, and unpagged. Mild steel. A bit large on my 23.5" head. $150, shipped anywhere in the USA. http://www.lsrinc.org/images/aa/pembridge1.jpg http:/...

Telling a fighter a blow wasn't good is the same as trying to tell him one was. This absolute needs to be tempered a bit, I think. If a shot lands flat, but out of the opponent's range of vision and they call "good", I need to tell them not to take it. Telling them that the force was insu...

I hadn't responded to this yet, because it occurs to me that I have bias in this matter, having done work* for <a href="http://www.zenwarriorarmory.com/">Zen Warrior/TCA</a> in the past, so my response might be seen as one long lead-in for a plug about the company. So I want to avoid that. Wait, it...

m Baron Larke (Daniel Larke del Glen) and crew had their booth set up at War this year with quite a few crossbows left in stock. Not being terribly good at archery, I can't vouch for the quality, but they're all pretty heavily involved in archery and combat archery in the Outlands for years, in addi...

Re: training to improve thrusting

So when I am working on the Pell, what practice tips can you give me that will help me add thrusting to my repertoire? or some other training device if the pell is not a good place to practice thrusting. Like a tennis ball hanging from a string or some other aid. The tennis ball on a string is goin...

No gathering of men at arms. Thursday, Saritor, Thursday. I'll talk to my deputay in Dragonsspine about his calendar that says Tuesday. It's about a 9-hour drive each way to make it to Dragonsspine fighter practice, so I rarely manage to show. I can tell you when Citadel practice is, though.

Well, that blade, no where. The only Darkwood blades which are approved at Society Level are the flexible sidesword, backsword and the various rapier blades that he makes. http://sca.org/officers/marshal/docs/rapier/bladetypes.pdf That list is a little out of date. There's a newer list of C&T-a...

If you're going back to Ft. Carson/Colorado Springs until you move, fighter practice is on Tuesday nights from 7-9pm.

Also: I'll have to make it up to the Denver/COSprings area to try and catch you at an event. Dang it, I was trying to spend less money. ;) :D

I've seen mention of what seems to be lack of proper armor in the SCA for what is considered heavy rapier (Del Tins and such) My question is now, what is your ideal armor for such weapons? Huh. I tend towards thinking it's the other way around. We're armored to prevent broken weapons (foils and epe...

I'm all for eliminating light rapier as the first authorization in the Outlands. Maybe follow Middle Kingdom's path and make light a training weapon only, not to be used in tournaments. My first step along that path for us would be removing the rule that epee is the default weapon for the kingdom, ...

There's an on-going and visible split between the heavy rapier community and the epee community here in the Outlands that's getting to the point of annoying me greatly. :D

Alas, Blackstone wouldn't follow any of my suggestions before he stepped down as KRM. ;) :D

That site's seriously out of date, btw -- at least for the Outlands. C&T has been out of experimental stages and has had an official ruleset in the Outlands for a couple of years now. I've emailed the site admins requesting that they update it, but to no avail. So, how accurate it is will depend...
