The Engine seems to have a glitch in that you cannot simply say "All Available." You get nowhere until you pick a specific forum for Search to look in; you have to go one forum at a time. That pulls up the hits. You can use the categories, too, to search a few forums at a time. (Making It...

I want to know why they ignored the fact that the Spanish had shields and maille, and I'd still like to know what the hell was up with the two-handed sword swing for a one-handed sword.

Yay, quasi-science!

The second spelling, while incorrect, lets us make way more "union" jokes about the Templars, though. ;)

And depending on how high their dues were, it explains their eventual demise much more thoroughly... ;)

True, but given the rest of his armor choices (all splinted), overlap is certainly possible between Klappvisor and Sugarloaf. They're separated by 20 years, but still feasible.

No, it's an interesting type of Italian (in origin) armour, ca 1560/70. EDIT: Huh. Hadn't seen any examples prior to 1560, but there are, apparently, and the origin isn't quite so likely, though the style would fit in with the Italian desire to use antique styles as 'retro'. End Edit. Sasuke did one...

Russ, ask Roger_de_Gilbert here on the archive.

He has a couple of plastic kidney plates sewn in to pockets in his gambesons, and hardly wears torso armor beyond that, except for special occasions.

Our local Baron generously volunteered to be my model. He is 26 inches across the shoulders and 47 inches around the chest. The gambeson would fit anyone up to these measurements but would probably be perfect on someone an inch or two smaller. Baron not included. (We need him occasionally.) Having ...
