Fabric Questions (Cross-post)

So, if fabric were to be offered semi-regularly, and cheaply, what kind of stuff would you guys, SCA and otherwise, like to see more of?

Linen? Wool? Pajamas with duckies and bunnies?

Regardless of the East's requirements, Society minimums are elbow pads for C&T. I heartily recommend elbow and knee pads, preferably hardened leather or metal knee cops, at least until you learn your range for C&T and how to cover the knee shots. To that, I'd add a pair of demis, since a cut...

I think it got eaten by the Great Crash, but you might want to try searching for the wheelbarrow thread that we had a long while back.

I think there was a bit of commentary on wagon-like objects.

Bah! We can do better than that! First things first, at this point in time you have two choices...native Irish and (technically what would come to be called) Anglo-Irish. In 1169, as the result of internal strife, Richard de Clare ("Strongbow") and a few (hundred) of his friends from Wales...

Re: Irish maybe 13th?

Please use the search feature and look up all the Irish threads here. It would help if you decided upon a specific time as that would narrow down your search greatly. I don't think we've done any 14th century Irish stuff, have we? Just mentions. I think I've got some resources on Irish/Anglo-Irish ...

The Outlands has a southern rapier guard, and runs a Captain's tournament every year. The day I got my rapier AoA-level award was the day of that tournament. My knight and I drew each other in one of the final rounds, and did 45 seconds of full-speed, total-zen, matrix-like rapier combat, and then w...

So, reason would state that placing a sword (even flat) ontop of said helmet would only INCREASE the rigidity of both the sword and helmet. Depends on where the swords impact. If I'm blocking with the flat of the forte, and I have it braced on top of my helm, and someone hits me just above that poi...

Just checking. Now that I see that your theory is based soley on conjecture, I'll stop pestering you. If they're blocking with the flat of a single-handed sword and it's being driven up against his helm, then the odds go up dramatically. Different period masters give you different advice for parryi...

I think it's the newer style. That's one of my biggest problems with the new ones. The workmanship is not what I'd expect, having seen Bohemond's boots.

And they're size 12 men's. I'm a 12 wide, and they're snug on me, so a 12 regular or narrow would probably find them more roomy.

My former knight does that.

The foam padding gets glued into the barbute with contact cement, and when the time comes to replace the padding, he sets it out in the backyard and adds some lighter fluid and a match.

Check the foam padding. I find that is the worst culprit for harbouring smell.. If no one's brought it up yet, closed-cell foam padding that most people use will absorb sweat, harbor bacteria and generally slowly rot, which makes it the most likely culprit if it's old. They do sell anti-microbial c...
