For an early period kit go to your fabric store and buy a piece of wool. Brooch it and you're done. Or Irish, all the way up through the end of period. I've got a lovely red brat for 16th C Irish. I don't do it any more, so I'll likely get rid of it...but it's damned warm, and a ridiculous number o...

I bought them from Krag a while back, but I can't find the post. I'll dig them out and pm you some pictures in about an hour.

So... oftentimes I'm overwhelmed with just how cool my barony is... I posted this to the local e-list trying to get some folk to come over and fight with flaming rattan... and this is the first responce I get back... from my Baroness... Dante, if you haven't already gone out and done so, you need t...

Try something like these: m Someone here bought them and put some ABS plastic plates in with the (removable) padding. They also come with hard plastic over hips and coccyx. (And they're on clearance, so cheap! ) I fight in them with just the padding, and for the most part it's not bad, but the plate...

Mot even that much, if I did a Castilian....rusty maille shirt and a simple helm. But I'm working on a Lant Roll pike outfit, and may be talking to some folks who want to do a LH-grade Trained Band, since they've been salivating over the Gardiner's Company stuff. Now, if only I could convince them t...

Re: Fighting in minimum armor
So my question here is, for those of you who do fight in the minimum, how is it? Do you find yourself on the receiving end of a ton of unarmored blows (chest, shoulder, hip)? Do the pads underneath on the unarmored spots take a good bit of the sting out of the shot? I fight in pretty close to minim...

They probably weren't good warriors though since they all got themselves killed right? Depends. 1. Did they meet with Philip II a week or two beforehand to discuss important safety issues and arrow type and quantity allowed for the combat archers? 2. Did they, in fact, have swords that were on fire?

Terry Tindill/That Guys Products Review
I ordered a perf plate mask from Terry Tindill at That Guys Products a while back. Terry makes excellent masks that I've seen on quite a few folks, and I gave in just after Estrella and ordered one. I received it today and am lamenting that I won't get to use it RIGHT FREAKING NOW. On the Frieman In...

Hell I don't care if you and Daunte were to burn each other up with flaming swords. All I would ask is that you film it and post the link to the youtube fail blog after so I could see it and laugh. How exactly does this relate to failblog? Are you assuming they'll set themselves on fire and run the...

Not necessarily going to help you develop a pattern, but Meyer's fechtbuch is ~1573, so right at the beginning of your time frame. Not soldiers, necessarily, but civilian clothing for martial endeavors...and high-quality plates.
