Walter and a slew of German fellas are coming right around the corner. They demand a certain extra attention because I, like you, am equally fond of the details we see in these 14th century effigies. With some exceptions, my objective is to produce them in rotational volleys: ie, one from the 13th ...

HA! That's Jacob, one of our converts to SCA from Belegarth. He made me a pair of bauzbands in exchange for my copy of the pattern that I got from Bohun. Yes, those are gauntlets made from Bohun's pattern. They hold up pretty good, especially if you already know how to harden leather. The pattern a...

Do either of you have the text of the Bull? I would be interested to see if it was concerned with: 1. Replacing Robes with Surcoats 2. Allowing Surcoats (which had perviously been restricted.) or 3. Specifying the colors and decoration of surcoats allowed/reserved to the order. Alvar The sight were...

When lay on is called, all I want you to think about is "Hit the other guy with the stick". All that other stuff, about breathing, footwork, timing, openings, movement, proper form, and everything else... that's for training. Once lay on is called, hit the other guy really hard, and don't...

Re: Need 13th century crusader ideas
So I have a really awesome, perfectly period sugarloaf from James Gillaspie. Now I need to build the correct period accoutrements around it. I want to do a full tabard w/ sleeves, and hidden armour.
