I think if these are accurate...It would imply that aillettes were not just used for tourney, but also as a defense of the upper shoulder and point of the shoulder..

Those are actually from a kit developed by Bowen the Black...Those gaunts were made by Sir Bartholomew Hightower.....Recognising the guy in the Brotherhood tabard was a dead give away for remembering where I have seen these gaunts before.... It fit's my middle Ireland persona pretty well. I could go heater just as easily considering the close proximity to the English. Just curious...What do you mean by "middle Ireland", the style of shield is also determined(historically speaking) by your time frame.... It serves two purposes...
