Outlanders might know this for sure. I seem to remember that Ian McDuff took a broken Markland blunt to the upper left quadrant one year. That's the scariest injuries I have heard of. If he had died, it would have been horrible, and it also would have changed the course of the SCA substantially. As...

So, the only combat (trauma type) fatality is a rapier fighter? Didn't expect any of those in rapier. Honestly, didn't expect any trauma type deaths in general. What was in the CA thriead was actually referring to the exhaustion/heart attack incidents, not having one's skull crushed or anything. How...

Think of defensive linemen. Or offensive linemen if you wanna go really big. These are guys who expend a lot of energy. And they have pretty fair stamina. They're quicker than most of us, too. Some of these dudes run a 40 in less time than I can cover 25. Not saying gladiators were that mass-oriente...

...Cervelliere? I come up with Sir-vell-ee-air.

I'm a big fan of this sort of hat and would love to be able to call it something other than "skullcap" in conversation.

I suck with french words.....

Sir Vitus, how does jumping rope make one's hands faster? Or is it something else you're doing with the rope that makes hands faster?

Is plastic necessary, or will an old piece of rope work?

Graham, by polystyrene sheets, you mean styrofoam insulation?

You can also use the "eggshell" type bedding foam (if you have the money), and build a false wall on top of your existing ones lined with the foam.

Not a prefect solution (or cheap) but may help.

Would it be possible to encourage combat archers to move to the rapier field? Rapier fighters already have good face protection, so arrows in the eye shouldn't be a problem. Those combat archers who can't fight effectively with rattan might be able to wield a rapier. The archers wouldn't need all t...

Latigo or chrome, from what I've gathered around here.

Personally, I prefer the look of canvas. That and latigo is kinda limited in color choices...lol

Chrome will have a pretty broad range of choices.
